COVID-19 CAMPGROUND CLOSURE NOTICE Effective March 19. No new campers will be accepted at first come, first served sites. Campgrounds that are currently open will honor active reservations through March 22. Reservations on or before March 22 will be honored for the entirety of the reservation. No new reservations will be accepted after March 22. Reservations must be made at www.recreation.gov RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS Campground reservations scheduled between March 23 and June 1 will be cancelled. Refunds will be provided through www.recreation.gov (1-877-444-6777). Canceling your own reservation online may result in a fee. Allow Recreation.gov time to process your refund. Reservations after June 1 will be reevaluated at a future date. We apologize for the inconvenience. The decision to close the campgrounds was not taken lightly. The campgrounds are closed to protect guests, volunteers and staff.

Haleakalā National Park is announcing modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and local and state authorities to promote social distancing. As of March 21, 2020, Haleakalā National Park is closed, this includes the Kīpahulu District and Summit District of the park. The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at Haleakalā National Park is our number one priority. The National Park Service (NPS) is working with the federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website and social media channels.   The NPS urges visitors to do their part and to follow CDC guidance to prevent the spread of infectious diseases by maintaining a safe distance between yourself and other groups; washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze; and most importantly, staying home if you feel sick.  For high-risk populations, such as the elderly and people with underlying conditions, we ask that they take extra caution and follow CDC guidance for those at higher risk of serious illness.    Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus.
