Warning 2 Alerts are In Effect

There are 2 alerts for this campground. Camp safely!

Stage 2 fire restrictions are in place on the Tahoe National Forest beginning August 22, 2025 due to increasing fire danger. Please visit the link below to review Forest Order 17-25-08 and to view a list of authorized hosted campgrounds where fires (in established metal fire rings) are allowed and to review additional prohibitions:https://www.fs.usda.gov/r05/tahoe/alerts/stage-2-fire-restrictionsIndividuals with a valid campfire permit may use a portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern in an area at least three feet from any flammable materials provided that the portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern only burns gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel and has a with a shut-off valve. Campfire permits are free and available online at permit.preventwildfiresca.org or in-person at Tahoe National Forest Visitors Centers.

Attention: Due to the threat of golden mussels, these boat launches will be closed to motorized watercraft for the 2025 season: 1) Jackson Meadows Reservoir boat launches (Pass Creek and Woodcamp) and 2) Bowman Lake. You may still launch non-motorized watercraft from these boat launches. For more information, about the golden mussel and how to do your part to reduce the threat of introduction, please read below and visit: https://www.nidwater.com/jackson-meadows_._The non-native, highly invasive golden mussel was discovered in Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta in October 2024. Once established, they can affect flood control by reducing water flow and contribute to harmful algal blooms. Please contact the waterbody you plan to visit for latest information about launching requirements. Since golden mussels and their larval offspring are very small, they may easily go unseen on your watercraft. To keep our favorite lakes and rivers free from this risk, please Clean, Drain, Dry equipment and watercraft before and after entering a waterbody: https://dbw.parks.ca.gov/?pageid=28993

Great Lil Campground

Great little campground near the reservoir. Smaller & quieter than East Meadows Campground to the southeast (at least during our stay). Smaller sights, tighter turns would make Class A driving nervous. There is an overflow area for Class A’s & larger toy haulers. Mosquitoes weren’t too bad as of 08/04/2023

Frequently Asked Questions

What do campers say about their experience at Pass Creek Campground?

Pass Creek Campground receives positive feedback for being a quiet, peaceful retreat near the reservoir. Campers appreciate the campground's smaller size which contributes to a more tranquil atmosphere compared to some neighboring options. The natural setting offers a relaxing experience, and mosquitoes aren't reported as being too problematic. The campground maintains a good balance of accessibility while still feeling somewhat secluded, making it ideal for those seeking a more laid-back camping experience without complete isolation.

What does Pass Creek Campground look like?

Pass Creek Campground features a picturesque setting near a reservoir, nestled in a natural woodland environment. The campground is relatively small and intimate with sites arranged in a way that maintains privacy while allowing access to the surrounding natural beauty. The area around the campground includes water views and typical Sierra Nevada forest scenery. Its smaller footprint creates a cozy, less developed feel compared to larger campgrounds in the region.

What camping options are available at Pass Creek Campground?

Pass Creek Campground offers traditional campsite options suitable for tents and smaller to mid-sized RVs. The campground has a designated overflow area specifically for Class A motorhomes and larger toy haulers since the main camping area features smaller sites with tighter turns that could be challenging for larger vehicles. These space limitations make the campground better suited for more modest camping setups. For specific site availability and reservation requirements, contact the campground directly as policies may change seasonally.

How does Pass Creek Campground compare to Jackson Meadows Campground?

Pass Creek Campground is notably smaller and quieter than East Meadows Campground (part of the Jackson Meadows area). While Jackson Meadows campgrounds tend to be larger and potentially busier, Pass Creek offers a more intimate experience with fewer campsites. Pass Creek has tighter turns and smaller sites that can be challenging for large RVs, whereas Jackson Meadows might accommodate larger vehicles more easily. Both provide access to reservoir recreation, but Pass Creek is the better choice for campers seeking a less crowded, more peaceful atmosphere with a smaller footprint.
