Fish Creek (CA)

Creek sounds and scattered shade define the atmosphere at Fish Creek, where campers access sites through both drive-in and walk-in options within Sierra National Forest. The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-September, accommodating RVs up to 20 feet alongside tent campers.

Recent wildfire damage has affected the surrounding area, though Collin notes "a lot of trees survived in the creek but the surrounding area was decimated." Infrastructure repairs remain ongoing, with crumbling asphalt reported at some sites. Despite these challenges, the creek continues flowing year-round, providing the primary draw for families and anglers.

Children gravitate toward the water access, as Aya-Mei D. observed when her "two kids loved playing in the creek." Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table, with drinking water and restrooms available throughout the campground. Cell service reaches most areas. Swimming and fishing opportunities center around the creek, while nearby Rock Creek offers additional water recreation just over two miles north.

The $41-43 nightly rate includes standard amenities, though campers should prepare for ongoing restoration work. This forest setting works best for visitors prioritizing creek access over pristine facilities, particularly families with children drawn to water play.

Many campers appreciated the creek for kids to play in, but multiple reviews noted serious infrastructure issues including crumbling asphalt and hazard trees. The campground has faced temporary closures and may need extensive repairs.

Survived Creek Fire but Damaged

A lot of trees survived in the creek but the surrounding area was decimated. There are hazard trees and other damage that will have to be repaired. I don't expect it to open in 2022.

Needs renovation

We really wanted to stay here. The creek is still running. But, the campground sites need a lot of repair. All of the asphalt is crumbling.

Awesome campground on creek

I went here with my two kids and they loved playing in the creek. It doesn’t have many amenities, but the space is nice with a fire pit and pick of table
