Beautiful riverside campground

Most sites have direct river access.  All sites are walk-in, but not far from the parking area.  There are two pit toilets for six sites and both were clean.  They sites are large, but fairly open, not much between the sites.

Gleasons Landing

Tent camping only.  Four family sites and two group sites.  Hard to get a reservation on the weekends.  Campground is at the end of a canoe/kayak company's trip.  Can get loud during the day when the trips come in.  Other than that.. very quiet.  Vault toilet and pump water.  Can buy firewood at Bowman's campground. Good amount of trees around to hang hammocks.

Campground off the beaten path

Very small, somewhat remote campground. I was there during the week of 4th of July and there were only a few spots occupied. All sites are "walk to" from the parking lot. Overlooks the Pere Marquette river and has a small sandy shore where you can get into the water to cool off or do some fishing. This is also a landing spot for folks that rent kayaks or canoes from Baldwin, which is the closest town. Vault toilets, tables and fire rings; no other services.

What amenities and facilities are available at Gleasons Landing Campground?

Gleasons Landing offers basic facilities including vault toilets (two pit toilets that are regularly cleaned) and pump water. The campground has four family sites and two group sites, all designed for tent camping only with no RV accommodations. All sites are walk-in from the parking lot, though the distance is not far. Firewood is available for purchase nearby. The sites are spacious but relatively open with limited privacy between them. Each campsite provides a rustic camping experience with most offering direct river access.

Where is Gleasons Landing Campground located on the Pere Marquette River?

Gleasons Landing Campground is located directly alongside the Pere Marquette River, offering a picturesque riverfront setting. The campground features a small sandy shoreline area where the river is accessible. It's positioned in a somewhat remote location, making it a peaceful destination for nature lovers. The campground is situated at the endpoint of canoe and kayak trips operated by local outfitters, which indicates it's at a convenient access point on the river for water recreation.

Are reservations required for camping at Gleasons Landing on the Pere Marquette River?

Reservations are highly recommended for Gleasons Landing, especially for weekend stays when the campground is in high demand. The small size of the campground (only four family sites and two group sites) means it can be difficult to secure a spot without advance planning. Weekday visits may offer more availability, as the campground often has several unoccupied sites during mid-week periods. Contact the campground directly for the most current reservation requirements and to secure your spot.

What activities can visitors enjoy while camping at Gleasons Landing?

Visitors at Gleasons Landing can enjoy fishing in the Pere Marquette River, with most sites offering direct river access. Swimming and cooling off in the river is possible from the small sandy shore area. The campground's location makes it ideal for canoeing and kayaking adventures, as it serves as an endpoint for guided river trips. Nature observation and relaxation in a quiet, natural setting are primary activities, especially on weekdays when the campground is less busy. The surrounding area likely offers opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing as well.
