Harpeth River Bridge Campground (TN)

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Within the Army Corps of Engineers' Cheatham Lock And Dam Recreation Area, Harpeth River Bridge Campground provides a compact camping option with direct river access. This 15-site campground features concrete level pads and accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with electric and water hookups.

The campground sits close enough to the Harpeth River Bridge that tent campers should expect truck noise from jake brakes overhead at night. Each site includes concrete pads that reviewers consistently praise for their level surfaces. Sites are spaced well apart from each other, with those closest to the water typically filling first. The bathhouse and restrooms receive regular maintenance and cleaning attention from staff.

Water activities dominate here, as Shelly S. notes that "watersports are the only flavor on the menu." The campground provides easy river access for kayaking and fishing. A local farmer visits Saturday evenings selling fresh produce to campers. The facility operates with gated nighttime security and daily sheriff patrols.

Reservations are available but can be challenging to secure during peak season, with some campers booking entire seasons. For alternatives, Lock A offers additional Corps-managed camping about three miles northwest.

Small 15-site campground with level concrete pads and clean facilities that many campers appreciated. Some visitors noted truck noise from bridge and reservation availability challenges, but most found it well-maintained with friendly staff.

Fair pricing and clean

Very clean campground, water is not for swimming though! And people who are keeping it going are super nice. Wanted to extend but they only have 14 sites and it was booked :/

Nice find!

This was our first time at this campground. It’s a beautiful find. Small with only 15 sites but they are all concrete level pads. Easy access to the River. Absolutely beautiful mornings with the fog over the water to look at while you sip your coffee. The sites are spaced well apart. No bad sites here. The bathrooms and bathhouse were clean and within easy walking distance. They are very friendly and have a local farmer that brings fresh produce by on Saturday evenings. We chose this because it was only an hr from our home. We will definitely be back.

Loud for tent campers

We are new-ish to camping and were directed here by the nice lady at Lock A once we were told the first come first serve sights were taken and this place had one sight available. The grounds are well kept and the showers are very nice. We pitched our tent on comfortable ground and were serenaded by the sounds of trucks coming down the bridge overhead with their jakes on at night. Bring earplugs if you are in a tent. Nice staff at checkin and cleaning crew very thorough.

RV sites on river

Hard to get reservations because they allow people to book out every weekend for the entire season and not even show up all of thier booked with down. Reservations need changes. noon should be able to treat a site as if they own it and keep it booked every weekend all season. Beautiful spot if you can get in.

Only minus is.....

Harpeth River Bridge Campground is newer, small and very nice. Only 15 sites including the campground hosts.

Water and electric on sites, my favorite was 8, very usable with Tentsile Tent and right on the water.

Watersports are the only flavor on the menu. But!!! There are several recreation areas nearby to enjoy in addition to Harpeth.
