Wenatchee Guard Station

Within Umatilla National Forest, Wenatchee Guard Station operates as a Forest Service rental cabin located off the main road near Pomeroy. The $50 nightly rate includes access to basic facilities with toilets and campfire permissions, though the site accommodates tents only with no RV access.

One visitor noted the elevated views from the property but mentioned frequent ATV traffic using the area's outhouse throughout the day. The forested setting near a creek provides some isolation, though the location sees regular day-use visitors exploring the guard station structure. For additional options, campers can explore places to camp around Umatilla National Forest. Reservations are available and pets are welcome on the property.

This includes the 3 miles on Cloverland Road from where the county stops plowing to the Sno-Park. A Washington State Sno-Park permit is no longer required to park at Cloverland Sno-Park, but snowmobile registration is still required.

Great view, Needs a keyed outhouse

I spent a night at the guard station in Aug 2019, and it was great. The guard station itself is nothing too special, but the view is incredible. I'm not a huge fan of the Umatilla area, but I like the isolation of staying at the forest service stations. This place would be better if it had a locking outhouse. Even though the guard station and outhouse are off the main road, several people stopped to look at the guard station and use the outhouse. Apparently it's a popular area for atvs, cuz some jagoff on a quad or dirt bike was using the outhouse every hour. FYI, if you want to view a forest service cabin or lookout and it's occupied, don't disturb the people, take a quick photo and be on your way. And definitely don't use their outhouse.
