Deschutes National Forest manages Bull Bend Campground on a peninsula where the Deschutes River wraps around on three sides, creating a layout that puts nearly every site within easy reach of the water. The campground sits on a dirt road with washboards off County Road 43, and drivers should note that Forest Service Road 4370 is gated closed past Wyeth Campground, making that route a dead end. Follow signs for NF-100 instead. RVs up to 40 feet can access the campground, though the rough road surface warrants caution.
Sites here are notably large, well-suited to groups or families who want room to spread out, and the river frontage is the main draw. Paddlers can float a roughly two-mile stretch downstream to Wyeth Campground, and a small boat ramp on-site supports those arriving by water. Anglers, swimmers, and kayakers all use this stretch of the Deschutes regularly. There is no water spigot, but as G G. notes, "plenty of clean water from the Deschutes River." One pit toilet serves the entire campground, which can be a constraint when sites fill up.
Amenities are minimal: pit toilet, picnic tables, campfire rings, and trash service. Cell service is listed as available. The campground runs from late April through mid-October, with nightly fees of $23 to $25 and reservations available through recreation.gov. Nearby, Deschutes River Dispersed — Deschutes NF near Bull Bend provides an alternative for those who prefer a more primitive setup. Campers who like river-access camping with some elbow room and don't mind a bumpy final stretch of road will find this spot worth the effort.
