Anglers and boaters find direct access to Kaweah Lake at this Corps of Engineers campground, where sites sit in a grassy meadow overlooking the reservoir. Horse Creek operates year-round but faces seasonal flooding during summer months when lake levels rise, temporarily closing lower sites. The campground accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with electric and water hookups, plus tent-only areas.
Sites include picnic tables and fire rings with grills, some featuring shade structures. Flush toilets and hot showers serve campers, though Ashlee L. notes facilities show wear and "the toilet/shower house was in rough shape." A communal dump station, potable water, and trash facilities are available. Gates close at 9 PM with tire spike strips at the exit, requiring advance online reservations rather than walk-up availability.
The reservoir provides fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities when water levels permit access. Highway noise reaches some sites, while T-Mobile coverage works throughout the campground. The location serves as a convenient base for Sequoia National Park visits, with Three Rivers and Visalia nearby for supplies. Snake awareness is recommended in the area. Campers preferring private amenities might consider Kaweah Park Resort, which offers additional services northeast of the lake.
