Vermillion Campgrond is great

Kaiser Rd is very cool if you are ok with pulling over to let other vehicles by. Some say it's dangerous and scary. It is if you haven't driven one lane mountain roads. Just take your time and have passengers look for oncoming vehicles. The campsite is clear of debris with huge pine trees and plenty of shade. The Camp Host Robert is kind and very helpful. Lake Edison can be low to nonexistent but not when we were here. The Vermillion Resort is SO COOL. Huge portions of food every time we ate there. Visiting with the PCT & JMT hikers is worth the drive up. Fun stories and great adventures abound with all the characters you'll meet at VVR. Dusty The Adventure Dog and myself recommend this camp and Resort.

Beautiful landscape

Camp sites are spacious with plenty of room for multiple tents. Each site has a bear box. Vaulted toilets were as clean as you can get a vaulted toilet. Wood, minor supplies, and a small restaurant are within a short distance. The lake around cg is dry but a river was running a short walk across the lake bed. A little further of a walk and you can get to the lake. There are many lakes around and a hiking trails. Overall a very lovely campground though one must be warned the road is a little sketchy, it is one lane with steep drop offs in some areas and takes some time to navigate the many deep potholes and blind corners. There was quite a bit of cross traffic as it is a popular area so if your uncomfortable with drop offs and pulling over for passing this may not be the desired destination

no longer water-front

Great campsites - deep, lots of space, and quiet. The most remote location I've ever driven into - Kaiser Pass Rd. is a thing unto itself. Really cool chatting up some PCT and JMT hikers as they "laid over" at VVR next door. And we enjoyed some time at Mono Hot Springs, +/-5 mi back down Kaiser Pass Rd. Didn't catch any fish...but I think we probably had to meander a little further away from camp for the good fishing. Kids were playing in the [known] good fishing spots along San Joaquin River...so that was a bust. Oh - P.S. there were most-definitely bears!

Sitewe had 4 sites; 8-9-10-11 (but only used 2 they were so big)

Vermillion Campground at Lake Edison

Being at Lake Edison and Vermillion Campground is like being at the top of the world. It’s a rigorous climb up a one lane bumpy road once you travel past the paved road but it’s worth it. The campground is near to the Vermillion Resort (with a restaurant and store )and Edison Lake. Trailheads begin here and hikers can also take a small ferry to the other end if the lake for easy access into the Sierra mountains and many small lakes. The camp sites are gravelly with pine trees with nice lake views .. the lake goes down near Labor Day as it is used for electricity. Don’t expect cell service, or much in the way of comfort amenities.28$ single 48$ double and 10$ each vehicle . Closed in late fall/winter.

Absolutely Gorgeous!

This campground is way out there... in that it takes about 3 hours along a one-lane broken-down road to get there. And it is worth it. Such a nice area, and a nice campground. Every site was spacious and clean. The bathrooms were primitive, but clean. There is running water available, and places to put your trash. They even have a collection bucket for old batteries. Lots of wildlife around, and a great view of Lake Edison. I would go here again in a heartbeat.
