The US Army Corps of Engineers operates Persimmon Hill Campground within Enid Lake, where concrete pads accommodate RVs up to 125 feet among tall pines with cleared underbrush. Most sites provide lake views, with full hookups including 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections available year-round for $30-50 per night.
Campers consistently praise the facility's cleanliness standards. The air-conditioned bathhouses receive daily maintenance and restocking, while grounds crews blow roads clear of leaves and pine needles twice daily. "Almost all spots in this campground offer views of Enid Lake," notes Shana D., with "lots of tall trees with brush cleared out, so you don't lose the view." Wildlife sightings are common, particularly deer near the day-use area.
The campground provides direct lake access for swimming and fishing, with a boat launch on-site. Enid Lake draws anglers targeting crappie, and a fish cleaning station operates near the entrance. A paved walking trail, playground, and basketball court serve families, while the adjacent day-use area features a sandy beach. The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery offers educational displays when open.
Access requires navigating some rough roads, and site numbers painted on the ground can be difficult to read at night. Cell service works well for major carriers. Reservations are available online up to 24 hours in advance, though first-come sites accommodate walk-ins. The nearby Catfish Hut restaurant stays busy, so calling ahead for takeout orders helps avoid waits.
Winter camping remains popular despite seasonal lake drawdowns that reduce waterfront access. Book early for summer weekends when lake levels support full water activities.
