SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Set off Lake Whitney outside of Whitney, Cedron Creek sits within the Whitney Point Recreation Area along the central Texas shoreline, managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. The campground runs seasonally from April through late September, giving anglers and swimmers a summer-focused window to access the lake. It is small by Corps standards, with multiple loops and tree cover across most sites.

Water access is a recurring theme in reviews, though campers note that not all sites sit close to the shoreline. The lake draws anglers consistently, and at least one visitor reported catching large bass on a return trip. Deer are a regular presence, sometimes approaching sites closely enough to feed on corn thrown by campers. McCown Valley Park sits just southeast for those who want to compare nearby options along the same reservoir.

Sites vary in quality. Some are described as rough, while back-of-loop positions like site 27 offer more seclusion. Amy K. notes the campground is a "small campground with lots of trees," which holds up across multiple reviews mentioning shade and wooded surroundings. Restrooms and showers are on-site and functional, though reviews rate them as adequate rather than exceptional. The campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with electric and water hookups, plus a dump station.

Reservations are available and worth booking ahead for summer weekends, when lake access draws steady demand from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
