Lake Views

This campground is a Corps of Engineers campground. As you drive in you are greeted by a toll booth building where you can either pick up your car tag or the attendant can give you a map with open sites. You must book the sites online through the recreation.gov website. The gates to this campground close at 10 pm & reopen at 6 am. In emergencies between 10 pm & 6 am you can exit the campground but can not re-enter as there are tire spikes. Check in time is stated as 6 pm and check out is 4 pm; however, we checked in around 3 pm.

There are 3 sections to this campground: west, central, & east. The central campground appeared to be the most updated with wide, concrete spaces. Trees are abundant here and provide nice shade, but be mindful of falling branches. All sites have electricity 30/50 amp. Some sites have water located on site, some have water located about 40 ft away (bring extra water hoses), and some have no water. No sewers in any sites, but there are dump stations located within the campground.

The campground has several bathhouses and vault toilets. I did not tour any of the women’s bathrooms but my husband said the men’s was dirty and the toilet would not flush.

There are two playgrounds for children and lots of sandy beach areas to swim in and set up lawn chairs, etc... The campground also has a boat ramp and courtesy dock.

We camped on site C58. The site was wide, clean, and has a concrete pad. It was well spaced from other campers and had a nice lake view even though we weren’t directly on the lake.

Pros: •Lake Eufaula access •Sites directly on the lake or short walking distance •Gated campground •Has a variety of sites and able to accommodate big rv’s •Concrete pad sites

Cons: •No sewer •Needs lawn maintenance •Bathrooms need cleaning & updating

So bad

Booked a 2 night stay here but left after 30 minutes and asked for a refund. Sites on the water on the west loop were unkept and overgrown, the access to the lake was difficult with all the boulders, biting sand fleas everywhere, no mentioning of needing to share water access with your neighboring spot and the spigots being several hose lengths away, narrow and cracked concrete pads and to top it off, a diseased spotted fawn roaming around helplessly. The attendant was as helpful as she found be, but there was no helping all those issues.

Lakeside Camping in Oklahoma

This is a Corp of Engineers campground, which I tend to prefer. If you’re traveling from the DFW area this could be a weekend trip. The drive is about 3.5 hours. I stayed for 2 nights in site E04 which had electric and water hookups, although the water was shared with another site. So the water hook up is a distance from the site. I had to use 2 hoses to reach my RV and only after I turned it around so that the water hook up side was closer to the spigot. Distance between sites is very good, but not much foliage between.

The site was asphalt, which was nice, but very narrow. My RV is only 8 ft wide and it took up the entire width. Also, there were trees which prevented me from putting out the awning. There was a cement picnic table, lantern hook and fish cleaning/grill table. The best part of this site was that it backed up to a sandy beach. I could walk the shoreline of Lake Eufaula for quite a distance. The lake is quiet and clear. There were several fishermen out, but I don’t know what they were catching.

I didn’t realize how large this campground was until the day I left. I saw 2 dump sites. The one in the E campground was older and had an odd bump up which made gravity emptying a challenge. The sites are clean and as I was leaving the campground hosts were already at my site looking for anything out of sorts.

The restrooms and showers, although clean felt a bit creepy to me. I took photos, but didn’t use. The playground was quaint and offered several play spaces for different ages. Even the big kids!

One more thing to note, on a clear night the view of the sky here is very good! Saw lots of stars and the Milky Way! I think I’d go back, but try a different site.

Very Large

This campground offers over 100 campgrounds, which makes it to where it is not too private, however the surrounding area is beautiful, the hills are so lush and green, and the lake is wonderful to fish in.
