Beautiful Lake

We didn’t have reservations (which I highly recommend if you want a vault toilet). All of the good spots for the campground were taken, so we ended up back tracking just a touch and found an AMAZING free site. It was situated right next to the water. And while it didn’t have a vault toilet, we loved how secluded it was. It was perfect for our family. There was ample space for our two tents, hammocks, paddle boards... you name it. we loved it there. I gave it 4 stars because the campground itself looked squished together- like you were camping with your neighbor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Cultus Lake Campground located and how do I get there?

Cultus Lake Campground is located in the Deschutes National Forest in Central Oregon. To reach the campground, you'll need to follow forest service roads. The main Cultus Lake area can be accessed by vehicle, while the Little Cove section specifically requires boat access as it's a boat-in campground. Since the roads are unpaved in some sections, a vehicle with decent clearance is recommended, especially during early or late season visits. Make sure to bring detailed directions or a forest service map, as cell service can be limited in the area.

Can I bring my boat to Cultus Lake Campground?

Yes, Cultus Lake Campground is very boat-friendly. The lake is popular for various watercraft activities including kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating. As the name 'Boat In Little Cove Campground' suggests, some campsites are specifically designed for boat-in access. The lake offers excellent opportunities for water recreation, and many visitors enjoy accessing the campground via watercraft. For the best experience, bring your boat to explore the lake's beautiful surroundings and access secluded camping areas that might not be reachable by vehicle.

What's the difference between Cultus Lake Campground and Little Cultus Lake Campground?

Cultus Lake Campground is the primary campground with vehicle-accessible sites located on the main Cultus Lake, offering swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities. The Little Cove section of Cultus Lake requires boat access, providing more secluded camping experiences. Little Cultus Lake Campground, on the other hand, is a separate, smaller campground located on Little Cultus Lake, which is a different body of water near the main Cultus Lake. Each campground offers a different camping experience in terms of size, amenities, and accessibility, with Little Cultus generally being less developed and quieter.

What amenities and facilities are available at Cultus Lake Resort and Lodge?

Cultus Lake Resort and Lodge offers additional amenities beyond what's available at the standard campground. The resort likely provides lodging options for those who prefer not to camp, along with boat rentals and possibly a small store for basic supplies. While the campground itself offers dry camping with no hookups, the resort serves as a hub for more developed facilities. For specific details about restaurant services, rental equipment, shower facilities, or other resort amenities, it's best to contact Cultus Lake Resort directly as their offerings may vary by season.
