Fishing enthusiasts will find Grouse Campground positioned along the water's edge in Payette National Forest, with direct lake access for casting lines. The Forest Service facility operates from July through September at $10-15 per night, accommodating both tent campers and smaller RVs through drive-in, hike-in, and walk-in access options. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, with drinking water and restrooms available on-site.
The campground maintains a quiet atmosphere according to multiple visitors, with a camp host who has managed the property for several years. Road access requires navigating from the main highway, and sites sit close enough to the water that campers can hear the lake. Christopher R. caught "lots of trout in the lake" during his stay. The forested setting provides natural shade, while cell service remains available for those who need connectivity.
Hikers can access multiple trail options from the campground, including the route to Granite Mountain Lookout. The facility allows both pets and alcohol, making it suitable for groups wanting flexibility in their camping experience. For those exploring the broader region, campsites near Payette National Forest offer additional options throughout the forest system.
Reservations help secure spots during peak summer months, particularly for waterfront sites that tend to fill first.
