Natural Features

The campground is situated a ponderosa pine forest at an elevation of 7,500 feet. Wildlife viewing includes birds, squirrels, deer and elk. Hikers who venture onto nearby trails are afforded expansive views of the land beneath the Mogollon Rim. The Mogollon Rim, pronounced by locals as "muggy-own," is a 200-mile long escarpment in northern Arizona that ranges between 5,000 and 7,000 ft. in elevation and serves as the geographical divide between the cool high country above and the hot, dry desert below. Summer temperatures can be very pleasant because of the elevation. However, the rainy season often brings afternoon thunderstorms from late June through August. Great campground, close to the lake.

Have camped here several times and have loved it. About 1.3 mile hike to the lake. There is a marina to rent fishing boats with trolling motors. Normal camp “facilities”. A little further off of Rim road, so the motor vehicle noise is less, however, the campsite is very close to woods canyon road, and the traffic of people driving to the lake is a bit heavy at times. Overall, still a beautiful and awesome escape back to nature for the most part. My kids love it up there.

Nice place near attractions

This campground is a very close to Woods canyon lake or a short walk to the rim. Pretty crowded on the weekends but a nice place to stay.

Great for large group

This would be an amazing spot to rent if you have a large group. There are 2 large Ramadas in the middle of the campground that can be used for a party, dinner, services of any type, etc. all the spots are level and have a table and fire ring.
