Alpine North Loop Campground

Highway 26 cuts directly past Alpine North Loop Campground, placing campers within earshot of passing traffic but also providing easy access to this single-loop Forest Service site. The campground sits 2.7 miles from Alpine, Wyoming, making supply runs quick while keeping costs lower than accommodations closer to Jackson or the national parks.

Sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, with spacious layouts that give campers room to spread out. Trinda B. notes the campground "accommodates Travel trailers and fifth wheels" with "good sizes" for larger rigs. Pit toilets stay clean according to multiple visitors, though the facility lacks showers, electrical hookups, and water connections at individual sites. Potable water is available within the campground.

The Palisades Reservoir provides a backdrop for some sites, particularly site 11, while squirrels and various bird species frequent the area. AT&T cell service proves spotty for data, though phone coverage functions adequately. A camp host stays on-site and can direct visitors to the RV dump station at nearby Palisades Dam when needed.

Campers use this location as a base for exploring camping spots around Alpine or accessing Yellowstone and Grand Teton without dealing with in-park camping restrictions. The combination of highway convenience and lower crowds works well for those prioritizing access over seclusion.

great location... buggy in late July

We stayed here for its proximity to Jackson, Grand Tetons NP and Yellowstone NP without having to deal with camping inside the NPs and still stay fairly close to our next stop in W Montana. The park is one small loop. The sites are spacious and clean. The pit toilets are clean. No showers. AT&T service was non-existent for data... phone coverage was just ok. The camp host is very friendly. He was able to point us to an RV dump station at the Palisades Dam campground where we were able to dump after we left. The only negative about the park was the bugs. Not just mosquitos, but also other annoying bugs. The only wildlife in or around the park were squirrels and birds.

heaven on earth

Alpine north is located right off Hwy 26. The campground offers potable water and restrooms. We stayed on site 11 and the backdrop was beautiful Pallisades Reservoir. The site itself was big enough for a 40’ fifth wheel. The town of Alpine is in close proximity (2 miles). The campground is very tranquil.
