Islet Campground

With sites accommodating RVs up to 43 feet, Islet Campground operates from June through September within Willamette National Forest. The US Forest Service manages this drive-in and walk-in facility, charging $28-$56 per night with reservations available. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings, while drinking water and restrooms serve the campground.

Forested sites provide access to Waldo Lake for sailing and kayaking. Reviewers note that first-come, first-serve sites often work better for larger trailers, as some reserved spots sit on slopes or lack adequate space. The Shoreline Trail connects to the campground for hiking and trail running. Heavy mosquito populations persist through early summer, with conditions improving after mid-July.

Mosquitos are heavy

It is a beautiful campground and Waldo lake is a treasure to see. Perfect place to sail or Kayak. We noticed lots of trail bikes as well. Bring lots of bug spray and screen tent if you plan to be outside. Mosquitos were very heavy everywhere. Best sites for trailers are first come first serve as most of the reserved spots are too small or on a slope. There are a few good ones though. We reserved 14 but switched to 19, which was perfect for our 31 foot trailer.

A truly special place

The beauty of Waldo Lake is no secret anymore, but this is our favorite of the campgrounds. Beautiful forested sites, crystal-clear shallow water with sandy lake-bottom for swimming, and the Shoreline Trail makes for a great stroll, hike, or trail run. Just make sure to come at least mid-July or later to avoid the horrendous mosquitos of early summer!
