Bellaire Lake Campground

Fishing enthusiasts will find Bellaire Lake Campground positioned along the shores of its namesake lake at 8,600 feet elevation in Roosevelt National Forest. The campground operates from late May through September and accommodates RVs up to 60 feet with electric hookups available at select sites. Access requires several miles of maintained gravel road, though one reviewer notes "one small 20-foot section is a good climb on dirt pulling a big rig."

The 26 sites are divided between two loops, with the upper loop featuring flush toilets and electrical hookups while the lower lakeside sites offer vault toilets without hookups. Kimberly N. describes "beautiful well spaced and clean sites" with good spacing between neighbors. Fish jump regularly in the lake, and docks provide casting spots, though swimming is prohibited. The area attracts chipmunks, hummingbirds, and mosquitoes.

Campers should plan for limited water access, as spigots lack threaded attachments for tank filling. The nearest ATM sits 40 minutes away, so cash helps with transactions. Rock formations typical of the Red Feather Lakes region dot the landscape, offering climbing opportunities for children. For additional camping options, visitors can explore campgrounds near Red Feather Lakes or nearby Manhattan Campground just over a mile south.

Peaceful, beautiful getaway!

By far my favorite campground but this is for the “in the woods” not flaming folks. Your rig will get dirty and it’s worth it! Beautiful well spaced and clean sites. Great views and great beginner rock piles for the kids to climb on. Definitely all the good and bad that comes with altitude. We had one night the moon was so bright it was daylight and the next night the fog settled and you couldn’t see your hand infront of you. Nearish to a cute little town but bring your own entertainment, hammock because this is a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors not a parking lot to hold your camper while you seek tourist hotspots. Lots of FFS and we could have fit our big rig (40’ toy hauler) in most of them except site 7 you have to back straight uphill and would be hard to hitch or unhitch anything over 20’ let alone leveling. Camp hosts are great! Bring cash ATM is 40 minutes round trip. It is a dirt road in but very well maintained. One small 20’ section is a good climb on dirt pulling a big rig make sure you have good tires. There’s a beautiful lake but posted no swimming. Fish were jumping out of the water and there’s nice docks to sit on. There is water but no threaded attachment to fill tanks so you must bring buckets or water jugs. Yes there are mosquitoes and humming birds and lots of chipmunks. Absolutely loved it but we do prefer remote non-glamping even with a big rig.

Quiet getaway with electricity!

We spent a late summer weekend here on a last-minute whim. Unfortunately, this place books up well in advance like most NFS campgrounds in Colorado. But if you get lucky, you can catch a last-minute opening from someone's cancellation. Our site was a little further from others than most, backed up to open space with beautiful sunsets, and bonus! These sites have electricity, which is somewhat rare. Even better, the bathrooms are very clean and have electricity too. The lake is beautiful, great for fishing or paddle boarding (not swimming), and the walk around the lake is pleasant.

Red Feather's best

This lakeside campground is a gem. With 2 loops, one close to the river, and one a short walk away, it's a nice smaller alternative to other campgrounds in Red Feather. The lake is beautiful and great for fishing. The upper loop has flush toilets and power hookups and the lower lakeside loop has pit toilets and no hookups. The last few miles to the campground were dirt road but it wasn't too washboard-like on our visit.

We did a drive through

We came here to picnic & did a drive through when we were done. The sites are attractive & you can reserve them. Some had electricity according to the Forest Service site. It said some toilets were flush, but I only saw vaults. No showers. Water might be an issue too, so fill up before you come in. I used a vault by the picnic area & the host had just cleaned it.

The road to get here is graded gravel & really not too bad. We saw some larger rigs, so people do manage it. There's a path around the lake, some of it's board walked. It wasn't too busy on a Friday, mid afternoon. There's good fishing according to a guy my husband talked to.

This was my favorite lake of the Red Feathers. We visited Bellaire Lake Campground, no overnight stay.

Amazing Spot

This campground is split into 2 different sides and we were on the one closer to the lake where the sites were a little more spread out. It was absolutely perfect for privacy and the views were incredible! And even better, it was super close to several great hiking spots, like Disappointment Falls (which did not disappoint.)
