We will be transitioning into our winter season starting November 1st. During this time we will be closing our flushing restroom and shower facilities in Cottonwood Point and Hillsboro Cove. Vault restroom facilities will still be available at each campground during this time. In addition to this during our winter season the cottonwood expansion - sites 95-165 will be closed for the season.

Hillsboro Cove is located near Marion, Kansas, within the Marion Reservoir area. The terrain consists of open spaces and water features, providing a setting for camping activities. Temperatures range from lows in the 20s Fahrenheit during winter to highs in the 90s during summer, and nearby attractions include Marion Reservoir for fishing and boating.

Overview

Hillsboro Cove is a quiet little campground conveniently located off Highway 56 between the towns of Marion and Hillsboro. It's known for water front camping sites and a readily accessible boat ramp for fishermen.

Recreation

Popular activities include camping, boating, fishing and hunting. Anglers will find an abundance of Channel Catfish, Walleye, White Bass, Wipers, White Crappie and a boat ramp is provided at the campground for convenient access to the lake.

Natural Features

Completed in 1968, Marion Reservoir encompasses 6,200 acres of water surrounded by 6,000 acres of public lands. The surrounding expanse of forest provides visitors with endless recreational activities, set against the backdrop of the sparkling lake.

Nearby Attractions

The nearby communities of Hillsboro and Marion offer additional tourist attractions. Both cities have a nationally recognized Art and Crafts show, as well as a variety of restaurants and shops.

No regard for safety

Our 2nd day here they did a controlled burn without any notification. This was less than 300 ft. from us and wind blowing in our direction. The dump station is designed poorly so using a portable tote is very difficult. The only good thing is the campsites are very spacious

Nice shaded spots

When you enter the campground there is firewood for sale next to the guard shack. The sites are $18. The camp hosts are friendly. The sites are water and electric and nicely shaded. The loop has bathrooms and showers. There’s also a group site which has 9 electrical hook ups if needed. It also has a dump site

Nice shaded campground

Hillsboro Cove is a nice shaded campground located at Marion Reservoir. This campground has electric and water hookups. There is a covered picnic area at each site with a grill and fish cleaning area. There are also fire rings at each site. There is firewood for sale at the entrance and a guard shack with a camp host across the way. There is also a dump, wash house, bathrooms, and a group area with very large covered picnic shelter and 9 electric hook ups if needed.
