Panguitch Lake

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing and kayaking draw most visitors to Panguitch Lake Campground, a Forest Service site set within a ponderosa pine forest along the southwestern edge of Panguitch Lake in southern Utah. The campground runs from late May through September and divides into two distinct sections with notably different experiences. Sites on the north side feature a paved camp road, good spacing between neighbors, tall pines overhead, and elevated sightlines toward the lake from the northeastern area of the loop. The south side has a packed-dirt road with uneven, closely spaced sites that tend to feel more cramped.

Anglers come specifically for the trout fishing. The lake also draws paddlers, and a general store sits close enough to the campground that picking up extra firewood takes only minutes. A camp host is on-site and reviewers describe the restrooms as clean and well-stocked. Water is available at taps throughout. No pets are permitted, which is worth knowing before arrival.

The campground accommodates RVs up to 99 feet and is listed as big rig friendly, though tent campers should be aware that some sites lack level ground. Reservations are available, and rates run from $23 to $92 per night depending on site type. Bryce Canyon and Zion are both roughly an hour's drive from the area, making this a reasonable base for day trips. Those planning a longer stay around the region can also browse campgrounds near Dixie National Forest for additional options. Nearby alternatives include Panguitch Lake Resort and Panguitch Lake Adventure Resort, both less than a mile away. This campground works best for anglers, paddlers, and RV travelers who want direct access to the lake.

Many campers appreciated the clean facilities, friendly hosts, and scenic north side with tall pines. Some noted site quality varies between north and south sections, with uneven terrain reported in tent areas.

Panguitch Lake North Campgeound Utah

So I really liked the location of this campground. Only an hour or so from either Bryce Canyon or Zion National park. The town of Panguitch is only about 25 minutes from the campsite. The general store is only about 30 seconds from the camp witch was convenient when needing extra fire wood. Camp Host was nice and knowledgeable about the area. One of the few drawbacks that I had was our campsite did not have a level section to put a tent. I think you you are reserving a tent spot there should be spot that is level to place your sleeping area. Overall it all works and I would still go back

Ranger Review: OOFOS Sandals at Panguitch Lake Campground (north side), UT

CAMPGROUND REVIEW

North side: We really enjoyed this area of the campground, with its paved camp road, clean sites, tall pines, dark night skies, and enjoyable/audible location near Panguitch Creek in the ravine below. Friendly hosts, clean and well-stocked restrooms, water on taps, fire pits, picnic tables, and plenty of space between sites. Because the campground was so nice, the campers were happy and neighborly too. Panguitch Lake is not close enough to walk to, but there are elevated lake views from the sites in the northeastern area of the campground. Panguitch Lake is fun for kayaking, boating, and fishing. 5 stars (north side only)

Here is a brief video of the area near our campsite: https://youtu.be/W-EoKZ6au4A

South side: Better for tent camping; however, there were plenty of RV's squeezed into the tiny sites in this area of the campground. The south side campground road is packed dirt, the sites are uneven and crowded, and all are fairly close to the road (noisy). There are restrooms and water on taps. 2 stars (south side only)

PRODUCT REVIEW

As a ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time. While camping at Panguitch Lake Campground, we tested OOFOS Sandals (Women's OOLaLa & Men's OOriginal Sport)

https://www.oofos.com/collections/womens-oolala-sandal/products/oolala-womens

https://www.oofos.com/collections/mens-ooriginal-sport-sandal/products/mens-ooriginal-sport-sandal-brown

I LOVE these sandals! I wore them around the house for about 3 weeks prior to camping, and I already was getting significant relief from plantar fasciitis and sore knees. To wear them camping, over rocky surfaces and all throughout the campground was a pure delight! Their design and shape are very unique… soft/thick foam (but not too bouncy), great arch support, dip in the heal (like 1970's Earth shoes), all of which give your feet and legs a wonderful, relieving experience. I've continued to wear them at home and will be adding more to my collection!! 5 stars, for sure!!

Here I am modeling them at the campground: https://youtu.be/EtkkyJ6BN8s

My fiance ditto'd everything I said, of course ;-) https://youtu.be/lCTv15j67kA

In summary, this was one of our best camping trips (5 days, 4 nights). The campground was peaceful, weather was perfect, fishing was great, and our sandals made our feet very happy!!
