Hidden gem

We have camped here numerous times. We always visited off season, so technically the campground wasn’t open, but there are three spots outside of the gate that are open year around, roads permitting. Quiet little campground with a delightful stream running through it. Restrooms (drop toilets), that…

It felt like sleeping in truck stop

Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch was our first experience at a KOA. We thought that having lots of amenities would be beneficial. However, we weren't given an opportunity to choose our campsite and ended up in a tiny pad on the end of a long row of giant RVs. Our car didn't fit on the pad without…

Cool Community

(Stayed August 17) This is a great and well known spot for camping, climbing, RVs, and van life. The parking lot filled up rather quickly, so space between vans and vehicles wasn't much. There is a bathroom and a number of tent sites as well. People were very friendly and it was easy to meet…

Fine for a night

Arrived in the general area, but the few decent spots were taken by RVs. There was open space but exposed, found a more private location off a side trail. Trails leading to location were very tame, but offshoot trails definitely require high clearance.

Amazing campground

Wide roads and campsite with plenty of grassy areas in between. It’s got all the amenities and is situated in an actual ranch. The ranch also has a golf course and houses. There is also a school on the premises and it was quite delightful to see teenagers in tennis classes playing in the middle…

Me and my wife came here for our honeymoon. We've only been here a day, and we couldn't be happier with our decision to come here. Beautiful place, our cabin is exactly what we need, and the Convenient Store and Cafe have everything you forgot to bring!

Climbers paradise

Stopped here for the night on the way to Wind Cave, ended up staying to rock climb for two weeks. Primo rock climbing within minutes of the campsite, and some of the coolest people I've met anywhere. Spots for van boondocking and a ton of great tent sites.

Loved everything about this campsite! Super clean bathrooms and showers! They also off laundry, a heated pool and other amenities.

One of the best parts was our campsite had hiking opportunities all around us from beginner to expert.

This place is only like a mile to downtown Keystone and 5…

Great central location for tourism

Incredibly tight spots but that’s the only downside. Customer service here is phenomenal. It was the only campground in SD we stayed at, so maybe that was it, but I can’t stress this enough. The BEST customer service. We had to push our trip back 24hrs, not a problem. When we arrived, all of staff…

Tidy, Clean, Friendly, Attractions

This is a great place to stay. Not far from Rapid City but close to all the attractions in South Dakota. The heated pool was NOT heated and the hot tub was NOT hot. That is why I gave the CG four stars. I was really looking forward to using them. Also, both seemed overloaded with chemicals. I have…

Great spot in the hills

Beautiful spot in the middle of the black hills, not too many people but you can occasionally hear noise from the roads. Good water source nearby for filtering or boiling.

Have stayed here for years

Always clean, great showers, quiet at night and it cools off wonderfully all summer.

  • Nice little stream with cold water!
  • DC Booth Fish Hatchery right next to the campground

Nice little campground

Pleasant location. Sites are a bit close together, but they are right on the lake. Easy access to the centennial trail. Only downside was the small herd of cattle wandering around leaving messy cow pies all over.
