Griffin City Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Boaters, anglers, and walkers will find Griffin City Park well-suited to a Missouri River-focused stay, with a marina and boat launch immediately adjacent to the campground and walking trails running through the green space. The park sits along the river in Pierre, giving campers direct views of the water from the grassy common areas dotted with benches and picnic tables. It's a first-come, first-served setup. No reservations are accepted, so arriving with some flexibility is wise.

The campground has 16 back-in sites arranged side by side, each with 30/50-amp electric hookups and a maximum RV length of 40 feet. Reviewers consistently note the area is well-maintained, and the layout keeps things organized. The dump station and water fill are at the west end, while restrooms and showers are located to the east near the tennis courts. One reviewer notes the area is "very clean and quiet," which appears to hold on lower-occupancy nights. Fees run $25 during the main season, dropping to $10 from November through April, paid via an honor-box drop system.

Tent camping has been reported by at least one reviewer, though a more recent note flags that tents may not be permitted, so contacting the site at 605-773-2527 before arriving is worth the call. No campfires are allowed. Pets are welcome. Cell service is available. Campers wanting a more wooded or remote setup might consider Fischers Lilly Park to the west as a contrast to this in-town, utility-focused stop.

Many guests appreciated the scenic Missouri River location with beautiful green spaces and complete RV amenities including electrical hookups and clean facilities. Notable restriction is no tent camping allowed, but the reasonable pricing and convenient honor system make it popular for RV travelers.

Newly renovated and located right in town and along side the Missouri River.  There is a marina with a boat launch that is right next door.  You will find a dump station, 16 electrical hookups, space for additional parking right next to a beautiful green space.  During summer months May 1 - Oct 31 nightly free is $25.00.  During November - April the cost is $10.00.  There is an honor box based system to deposit your fee.

Restrooms and showers are located to the east of tennis courts.  Didn't use so I didn't check them out.  There are trash receptacles provided.  Area is patrolled.  Check out the great walking trails.

Missouri River

This was a really great camp spot. It overlooks the Missouri River. And I couldn’t say enough about the beautiful green grass. Benches and picnic tables all around. We had not planned on staying here as long as we did but I’m glad we did.

Free City Camping

This is a very public campground that is free. The first row is for RV parking and tents can go anywhere on the grass in the next row. Behind the tent area is water. There are no showers, but there are bathrooms. The bathrooms do not have soap at the sinks, just a heads-up. The camping is near the baseball field.
