The best Ft Pierre has to offer - and great views

We spent two weeks here visiting family. Absolutely fantastic views of Ft Pierre and Pierre, and the Missouri River Valley. We are several hundred feet above the river, so it stays windy. It seems to always be hot in Pierre. The whole park is new in 2018, 50 amp water and sewer in all sites.…

Great campsite at West Bend Recreation Area

West Bend is a really lovely campground.  We only spent one night there so we did not get to enjoy the beautiful lake and surrounding area.  Our campsite was great as it was right on the lake and we could wade in and swim if we liked.  Kids were everywhere having fun on the lake, on the playground…

Gorgeous Hideaway in the Pines!

We enjoyed our stay at Big Pines June 2020. There were very attentive and helpful. I also liked the delivery service they offer, so as we packed our lunch for the day, they brought us ice. I also had lots of questions as a first time camper puller and they were helpful, gave us an easy back in site…

Awesome!

Stayed here one night on the way to My Rushmore. Checkin super easy and she made a great dinner recommendation for the best burger in Custer. Campground was peaceful, set in the trees, and we saw hot air balloons over head in the morning with some friendly wild turkeys walking through. Overall,…

Very Peaceful

Nice place with very friendly and helpful staff. The camp was very full when we were there but oddly very quiet. The breeze blowing through the pine trees was very peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again!

Spacious Campsite on the Water!

This campsite was a wonderful stop for us on our way home from our road trip. You can book these campsites online, but there were plenty of spaces available if you don’t have cellphone service. You do have to pay to enter the recreation area in addition to paying for your campsite. The campsites…

Amazing views!

A new campground that sits on a hill overlooking the Missouri River and Pierre, SD. Beautiful views and there are benches placed around the campground to enjoy them. Level sites with full hookups. Large, spotlessly clean bathrooms. Helpful and friendly owners. Wish we were staying more than one…

Great campground

We stopped at Oahe Rec Area during our family vacation in Aug. 2019. Nice, well kept campgrounds with playground & good places for the kids to run/explore. Only drawback was, when we were there, the swim beach had a bunch of dead fish everywhere. Someone had picked all of them up from the…

Beautiful spacious campground

We stayed here 2 nights in September and rode motorcycle through the Badlands/Custer State Park during the day. Few trees, but the newly planted ones will soon offer more shade. Very roomy sites so you’re not right on top of each other. Camped along the river- fishing/swimming access right from the…

Very well kept.

The lawns are very well maintained. The shower and bathrooms are impeccable. The beach and playgrounds are great. Shade is a commodity very hard to find. However, in about fifteen years ample trees have been planted that this problem should be corrected. Staff are accommodating and friendly. Great…

Friendly & Clean Campground

We love going to Oahe Downstream Campground every year. We have camped in both Campgrounds. Campground # 2 is closer to the river so it feels much cooler than Campground 1. Lots of things  to enjoy if you have kids or even Teens.  They have a 18 hole Disc Golf coarse . Bring your bikes because you…

Nice little stop over

We stopped for 1 note on the way west to Mt. Rushmore. It is a nice little park with a friendly staff that likes to show folks the garden. Ultra clean RR's and showers with nice tile and woodwork. Definitely a stop over as Presho is a 1 horse town!
