GuideThe location was very nice, very close to the park entrance, visitor center, hikes, and scenic views. However if you’re in a big rig and there’s been rain in the forecast, please just stick to the small section of laid gravel right at the entrance. Do not make the same mistake we did and get stuck. The nearest tow company with a winch is in Kadoka and the cheapest quote we could get was $320.

ScoutI stayed here during the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. They did bring in some portable toilets and a trash dumpster before the start of the rally. Plenty of other people here and if you have a tent, it shouldn't be a problem to find a spot. If you have a rv or motor home arrive early, because the nice spots fill up fast.
Immediately after you get off of hwy 14A and turn onto Camp 5 Road, there is a steep gravel and rocky hill. If on a motorcycle, proceed with caution as the road is washed out enough that it limits you to one side of tge road wide enough for a trike. Otherwise it's a very nice place and best of all, it's free for up to 14 days.
