Quiet, Free, Dispersed camping area off the main highway between Deadwood and Sturgis

I have stayed at this dispersed camping area once during the Sturgis rally. This is a free camping area located Off the main highway between Sturgis and Deadwood, South Dakota. After you pull off the highway onto campfire Road there are a few single campsites, but if you continue down the hill,…

Great place to camp

This is a great place to camp they only downside is there's absolutely zero data connection or internet connection. I have a hotspot for my RV because I watch internet TV and for two days I couldn't do anything I couldn't even call people. Would have gave it five stars if I could have used my phone…

Quiet campground just outside of Custer

Nice quiet campground just outside of Custer. They had plenty of open spots when we spent the night on a Friday. No electric.

Beautiful spot-walk to the lake Stokade NORTH

We had a lovely grassy and wooded space Hike to the lakeshore and marvel at the amazing rocks all around. PBS channels came through on digital scan TV - we love some TV now and then. Lightning struck in the campground while we were there in July. Power went out for a short time. Loud cracks of…

Walking distance to Sylvan Lake!

This campground was really nice! We had one of the spots that was more out in the open and close to our neighbors, but the sites on the outside of the middle loop were much more private. The bathroom was super clean and the showers were individual rooms that could be locked. I really like those!

Hidden Gem

We didn't know what to expect because I couldn't find very many pictures of the actual campground or our site. I was so surprised with this hidden gem! It was probably my favorite campground on our whole South Dakota trip. The bathroom was really nice and clean, the sites were spacious and the…

Lots to do and see here!

We’ve stayed at this campground twice now in the tent-only loop (sites 40-45). The tent-only sites are walk-in, so you park at the top of a small hill and walk down to your site. It is beautiful! Sites are same-day reservation only, so you have to call the campground number starting at 6:00 MT to…

The best of all worlds

This is by far the best camping park I’ve ever been to. Because of early presidential interest (Coolidge & Eisenhower, it’s a combo of NP vista’s & experiences, State Park amenities in stellar shape, & Resort level lodges, shops & restaurants. Hiking, kayaking in several lakes. The…

Good site but cleanliness should be better

Site is wonderfully located for access to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse as well as windcave. Sites are a great size with fire rings.

Biggest issue was the condition of the vault toilets. Not very clean, tons of flies and odor. Good door with either better vault ventilation or more regular…

Great campground

This campground has everything you need and then some. There's a playground, pool, mini-golf, basketball and volleyball. There's also a creek that goes thru the tenting area. There are at least 10 cabins and the sites are very nice. Great family campground!

Do NOT stay in #7

Good location. But we got stuck in #7. It had the clean out for all the sewer lines. Flies all over the place.

Absolutely amazing!

We've been fulltiming since January and this was the first place we actually stayed the whole 14 day limit. Perfect location for exploring the Black Hills and so much fun exploring to do just at camp. There's a homemade sign that says no fires upon entering and a ranger confirmed that fires are not…
