Good, not great campground

The best thing about this campground was the host. He keeps a clean, if primitive, campground and seems genuinely interested in the comfort of the guests. Poor Verizon reception. Clean vault toilets, no sanitizer or hand wash stations tho.

Nice campsite.

It's a nice location. Not too far from town, so you can easily drive into deadwood, for the day/night if you want. Beautiful spot, I recently stayed in a site just a short walk away from the water. So beautiful. The lake is small but still great.

Camping Right Near Mount Rushmore

Me and my friend (both young females) arrived at this campsite after seeing Mount Rushmore and doing a long hike.

There were plenty of parking spots and plenty of space to set up a tent. We decided to set up our tent on one of the sites right by the parking lot. It was a pretty quiet night just a…

Great location

Such a great city campground. Beautiful scenery & a creek that runs through. Walkable to downtown spearfish. Spots are a little tight, but overall a great campground.

Nice airy stop

Really cool area with prairie, rock formations and forest all rolled into one place. Super quiet during the end of the season so plenty of picturesque photo opportunities!

Close to attractions and free way.

We stayed early on the season the winter campers did not clean up after there dogs, when they did they put it on the fire pit. Be warned they have a open sewer pit could be a problem on the summer.

Just Fine

Really nothing in particular wrong with this campground, but it’s a little pricey at $45 for no bathrooms or showers. There is a little dog park at the front. Rules are pretty strict to the point of being unfriendly.

Perfect Camp for Climbers

Came from out of the area (from Pittsburgh) and found this awesome campground. Not much to do if you’re not a climber, but luckily that’s all we came to South Dakota to do. Walking distance to nearby climbing and nice views from the huge boulder in the vicinity.

Camel Trek - Night 8

After striking out on multiple other sites (off-season/winter closures), we were thrilled to find this spot. Only 1 other vehicle (tent camper) in the lot so we were able to find a semi-level parking place to call home for the night. As others stated, you probably wouldn’t want to bring any larger…

Definitely bringing the daughter and granddaughter next year! Beautiful area, awesome drive with scenery and WILDLIFE! I thought more about Teddy Roosevelt then Custer while here. Roosevelt was all about wildlife , etc. the park has the animals you relate to “the West”. The park had the feel of…
