Quiet, Private, Peaceful

Stayed here for a night during the week and the sites a little further from the main bathroom are VERY private. Stayed in site 9 which had one good set of trees for hanging a hammock. There was a picnic table and fire ring and I couldn’t see any other sites. Took a quick walk along the lake and it…

Refreshing lake views

The beach is lovely with a magnificent lake view. There's a light house at one end along with some large rocks that are apart of the Canadian shield.

Great Northwoods Park

This park is a quiet oasis in northern MN. The campground was clean and pretty empty. Heard wolves!!!

Walk-in bliss

The walk-in sites here are so good I almost don't want to spill the secret. There's just two sites, far from the main campsite and everything else, and spaced decently far apart from each other. They're nestled in quiet pine groves on a ridge overlooking the lake. The lake is electric motors only,…

Great spot for serious fishermen

This is a combo campground and city park, a joint effort of the Minnesota Dept of Natural Resources and the city of Baudette. While serving the recreational needs of townsfolk, it also provides great access to the famous Rainy River and a good place for out of town fishermen to stay. The campgound…

Bare Bones

This little campground is here as overflow for the nearby resort. It is located near the water, oak harbor golf course and the little town of Baudette. Its right off of highway 72 so it is very convenient.

Its also close enough to several waterways from Wheelers Point and Baudette border waterway…

Close to the Marina

The campground itself is the biggest of all of them in Zippel bay state park. It is also the closest to the marina and this is probably why it was full midweek. Couple families were occupying a couple of sites so it was a bit noisy but I don’t blame the campground for that. There was no host to…

Lots of variety and a boating destination

This state park is really nicely located for those that wanna get away to the north. Northern Minnesota has a lot to offer for wildlife and fishing. Zipper bay is pretty easy to get too and has a lot do from hikes, canoeing, kayaking, boating and fishing. You can easily get to garden island by boat…

You can easily get lost out here!

The drive in upper Minnesota is always amazing and to get here you have to climb to the northern parts of Minnesota but it is totally worth it.

The campground is pretty well maintained considering it is a state park and minnesota has thousands. The roads are not all paved but the ones that’s…

Camper Cabin

We stayed here in a camper cabin in late fall.  We were the only people in the park.  The ranger was wonderful when we called to reserve the cabin.  He made sure we had a few bundles of wood to cook dinner on in our cabin and he made sure that the cabin was open and ready for us.  We hiked in the…

Nothing Exceptional (but still nice)

  • There is a public water access area.
  • Decent trails for walking, showshoeing, or cross country skiing.
  • Nice playground for kids.
  • There is a host on site in case you have any issues. There is an overlook of the lake with a decent view.
  • There are vault toilets outside of the shower house.

Nice Quiet Campground

Great campground for a quiet weekend trip. We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The majority of the sites are seasonal but there are a handful of nightly sites and a few tent sites. The host was very helpful and friendly and does a great job maintaining the grounds. The bathroom and shower…
