simple tenting in town park

This camp ground is not so much a campground as it is a city park which has a section where tenting is allowed. There are bathrooms available, and a lovely sheltered  grassy spot to set up tents, and a place to grill and get water  at the picnic shelter, but in terms of other camping amenities there really arent any, so in similar conditions I might give a 3-star rating. However,  I am giving this camping spot a 4-star rating simply because it is located within a really sweet little town park that is beautifully kept, lovely grounds, nice playground and ballfields nearby, picnic shelter, pretty gardens and a very unique educational community  orchard that features a whole variety of different grapes, berries, apples, and more. (see link here: http://www.arthurnd.us/orchard/

This would be a nice place for a scout troup or youth group to have an overnight, or for a family reunion to set up. There are no RV sites or anything like hookups or anything like that, just tenting. You need to call the city office on a weekday to make reservations.

It is also located by the trailhead of the North Cass Pass Bike Trail which goes north to Hunter, ND see link here:  https://www.traillink.com/trail/northern-cass-pass/  so this might be a good place to camp if you want to do a weekend bike trip.

Not the best

First off there really aren't very many spots for a camper and from what I've seen for such a nice and semi large park and at least half of the are on a steep incline.

Clean, cute and well located

This was an overnight while on a cross country trip. Even though the site is close to highway, it felt like we were in a more isolated campsite. The campsite was clean and shady. There is a swimming pool (closed for season) that looked like a nice place with a sandy bottom. There was a playground and some walking trails. I would stay here again. Bathrooms very clean.

Convenient, clean, and nice

The north campground loop is more RV-oriented, while the smaller south loop attracts the tents. The sites are fairly close together but those on the outside of the south loop have some vegetation to separate them so they feel reasonably private. Nice bathroom facilities, including an outdoor dishwashing sink, perfect for the COVID year. Several nice hiking opportunities leaving directly from the campground. This was one of the buggier campgrounds we experienced during our August trip, though. In all, a nice campground but nothing so special that you need to go far out of your way for it.

Great little campsite

This is a very well kept camping area. The sites are nicely situated. We stayed in the tent are (#39) and were very private from our right and left neighbors but others are directly across from us. The bathhouse is newer and extremely clean. Yes, the mosquitos are plentiful but it is because the woods and river which also make this place nice. Our only complaint was the nearby train traffic that came through all night. Definitely would use this as a stopover again.

Amazing resort off the beaten path

What an amazing find and diamond in the rough! This resort is amazing, quiet, clean, friendly people, and pet friendly! Only a 3 mile ride down the gravel to get to ATV trails, and a premium gas pump to fill up with when you get back at the resort after riding. Private boat launch and swimming beach make it fun for the kids and convenient for dad to dock his boat to go fishing. Will definitely book a stay here again, soon!

Overnight Quiet Stay

Overnight stop! We stayed on outside by prairie and the quietness, and beautiful wildflowers are great! A train goes by in the distance every few hours! Not bad! Reminds us of home..

Good roadside stop

Small, clean city campground. Decent bathroom/shower facilities. Electric sites share a pedestal between two sites, so think about which side you want to be on when you reserve on RA.

In the morning (6:30 am) we were met with a questionable hustler that didn’t appear to have a place reserved, moved to three different sites, and approached us with numerous mechanical and other questions (“How do I plug in my camper? Do you have an extra fuse? How much does a fuse cost?”. Not sure what that was about, but keep your guard up (always).

Nice small campground

Nice quiet campground. For spots with electric, sewer and water you need to reserve online ahead of time. All primitive sites are honor system pay at box by entrance of campground. Not all spots have fire pits which is a downside. Bathrooms are good with coin operated showers. The town of Barnesville is very close with options for food, gas, ice or anything you might have forgot. There is a little swimming beach about 5 minutes from the campground.

Great mini trip

Clean, lots of paved trails, easy access to kayak, only thing missing is a place to swim!
