The Land of 10,000 Lakes is also notable for its likewise numerous assortment of trails and campgrounds for avid lovers of the great outdoors. Minnesota has many diverse natural environments to explore all across the state. While there are lots of spots to choose from, here are a couple especially neat sites to consider for your next foray when camping in Minnesota.


Part of the massive Dulux Complex rock formation, Eagle Mountain stands at a whopping 2,301 feet, the highest point of elevation in the state. Isolated from higher ground for hundreds of miles and overlooking several different lakes and a vast forest, the peak offers excellent opportunities to take a bird’s eye view of Minnesota’s rich natural beauty.


In addition to the campsites adjacent to Whale Lake, there are also many trails that run along the mountain, through the woods, and beside the lakes. Just keep in mind that Eagle Mountain’s trails overlap with the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, so be sure to get a BWCAW permit if you plan to cross over. Plus, you need an overnight permit from the Forest Service in nearby Tofte, MN.


The starting point for the grand Mississippi River, Lake Itasca, rests within Itasca State Park. The park hosts a variety of camping amenities such as lodges and internet access. You can also stop at the Mary Gibbs Mississippi Headwaters Center to learn more about the lake and its link to the Mississippi. Or you can check out the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories campus.


In addition to excellent camping facilities, Lake Itasca has many other outdoor sights and activities for visitors to explore. Multiple trails snake by the shores of the lake and into the adjacent wilderness, and it’s definitely a great place to experience the beauty of Minnesota’s northern ecosystems. Plus, you can go fishing at the lake, assuming you have the necessary permits.


With so many different campsites and trails throughout Minnesota’s diverse natural environments, there’s bound to be one that’s just right for you. A river adventure awaits you at the St. Croix River Resort. The Resort is approximately 90 minutes northeast of the Twin Cities and about a mile from the St. Croix River. Covering nearly 34,000 acres the St. Croix State Park is home to over 200 miles of designated Scenic River. It is widely considered to be one of the finest canoe rivers in the United States. Home to 19 species of fish including Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Sauger, Muskellunge, Northern Pike, and Lake Sturgeon that can grow to over 50 pounds.

ATV and Snowmobile trails provide endless hours of enjoyment to visitors and the trailhead is just minutes away from the entrance to St. Croix River Resort. The area also provides great hunting opportunities for our members.

We are also proud to offer 128 RV sites with some full hookups, tent camping, and cabins. We have something for everyone! Stop by the general store and pick up any last-minute items that you forgot, take a dip in our indoor pool, let the kids run around the playground and make new friends, or spend the day relaxing in one of our shaded sites and enjoying a good book or a nap.

**Camping Brno** is a small, family-run campsite on a 78 acre farm. This remote destination is defined by endless sunsets, abundant wildlife, and an addictive calmness.

Restore your soul with the fresh air and seductive sounds of nature, hike the trails, and explore the local area with its truly Midwestern feel.

Banning Junction with it's wonderful selection of trails is a short drive away for long hikes and beautiful river views. General Andrews extensive *ATV trail system* is close by, but there is a good sized trail system within the wooded part of the farm and adjoining acreages.

Two Creeks Clothing Optional Campground is a private, 100 acre, totally secluded property for adults over the age of 21 who enjoy a nude camp out experience. It’s located 90 minutes northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul, nestled between two state forests. Depending on how you travel, we are NE of Hinckley; east of Sandstone; South of Superior, Wisconsin or about an hour south of Duluth, Minnesota. We are fully licensed by the State of Minnesota.

There are two creeks on the property which will give you the opportunity to just float the day away. The surroundings give members and guests lots of room for camping, sports activities, pot-luck dinners, socializing and dances, plus there are areas for moments of quiet reflection, reading or relaxation. What more could a camper want in the North-woods of Minnesota?

Two Creeks Campground is open to members and guests from May 1 through mid-October. Campground members can enjoy this serene and relaxing environment in total relaxation, knowing that only members and guests of members, who are legal adults will be on the property.

Our attendees and members are from all backgrounds. If you desire liberation from the stress of everyday life, Two Creeks community is for you.

Members of Two Creeks will discover that people really do come in all shapes and sizes, religions, political, educational and social backgrounds. And, as far as our bodies are concerned, none of us have anything to hide. This is a clothing-optional campground. You decide if you want to stay nude, partially nude, or be clothed all day. Nothing is expected of you, except that you are respectful of others to be as free as they choose to be, without forcing themselves on you.

Once you’ve experienced the freedom of Two Creeks, you will never want to camp anywhere else. There are no children allowed, just freethinking, and socially progressive adults, just like you. Here at Two Creeks, you will be able to be who you are, and feel totally relaxed and free from stress. After a weekend at Two Creeks you will feel so totally invigorated that you will want to stay.

Members of Two Creeks, are all adults over the age of 21. We are of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Your social stature is not important at Two Creeks. Where you shop, what car you drive, where your kids go to school is of no concern. What is important is consideration for others and yourself.

Membership is open to everyone, regardless of your marital status or lifestyle orientation. So if you love camping, and you love the freedom of this lifestyle, then this is the place for you. We have modern shower and bathroom facilities (yes, that includes hot water). Our campground is large enough to accommodate camping vehicles and tents up to 40 feet.

The spaces are for motor homes, pull behind campers, tents and everything in between.

There are electrical hookups, many with 50 amp service, water and sewer hookups.

We rent camper trailers, cabins and tent – details and prices are listed on the reservation page.

Whatever type of camping experience you seek, we believe we can satisfy you. If you’re looking for seclusion on your private part of the campground, we can do it; if you’re looking to be in with people who like to party, it can happen. Two Creeks is whatever YOU make it to be.

Dispersed camping is allowed in Minnesota state forests. Dispersed camping is different from camping in a designated campground. It is a wilderness experience for campers who enjoy camping far from others and do not need any amenities.

Campers are welcome to enjoy The Milk Room which is our Lounge and Farm Store. You'll find self-serve coffee, hot cocoa, and other options available for purchase, including fresh garden produce when available. There is a microwave, places to sit and visit, and even a game table.

We have a nice, fully private outdoor shower with hot water available for $2.50/shower. Guests can pay on-site via our posted QR codes or cash box.

We have Nigerian dwarf goats, chickens, geese. We also have several apple trees, cherries, and elderberries.

We're also available for other events like birthday parties, intimate weddings, and group outings at our gazebo.

As grateful as we are to be out of a drought, the mosquitoes are back! We have several zappers around the property but please come prepared in case they're bad while you're here.

As a homeschooling, home business building family, there is usually a project or two always in the works to join in on if you feel so inclined or just sit back and enjoy the peace of clean air and loving goats!

Several lakes in the area provide numerous options for fishing, boating, and hiking. And nothing beats those evening country road walks while agate hunting!

Other area attractions include Mini golf in Cambridge, public aquatic center with water slides in Mora, and several state parks an hour or less away.

Our family at The Jubilee Homestead is looking forward to another great camping season in 2023! This small hobby farm is where I (Esther) grew up and now my husband Joel, our four children, and my parents, are developing it into a self-supporting farmstead and event venue as we raise chickens, rabbits and Nigerian dwarf goats, and grow a pick-your-own elderberry field. Our oldest son loves to plant and manage a small market garden with our campers in mind, so depending on when in the season you come, you may find some garden treasures to take home!
