Nice campsites, quiet

We loved this state park! We had 6 sites at the Birch Campground for an annual family camp outing. All of our sites were flat, private and large. Easy to fit a couple tents, a screen tent and a boat on. Hardly anyone besides us in this campground in the 5 days we spent here.

The beach is…

Quiet, Private, Peaceful

Stayed here for a night during the week and the sites a little further from the main bathroom are VERY private. Stayed in site 9 which had one good set of trees for hanging a hammock. There was a picnic table and fire ring and I couldn’t see any other sites. Took a quick walk along the lake and it…

Refreshing lake views

The beach is lovely with a magnificent lake view. There's a light house at one end along with some large rocks that are apart of the Canadian shield.

Quiet, Simple, Peacfull

This is a great little gem on the Canadian border. Minnesota’s smallest state park- but it’s very gorgeous and feels kinda awesome looking out at Canada!

A very cool feature at most sites, is that they have a rustic log overhanging/shelter of sorts. Doesn’t have sides, but some campers strung a…

Great Northwoods Park

This park is a quiet oasis in northern MN. The campground was clean and pretty empty. Heard wolves!!!

Worth the Trip

We’ve been back several times from my previous review. Since our first trip we’ve requested to be in the “overflow” which is electric only but way more spread out without a city street right next to your camper. The area is all grass so much more enjoyable with young kids.

This really is a great…

Walk-in bliss

The walk-in sites here are so good I almost don't want to spill the secret. There's just two sites, far from the main campsite and everything else, and spaced decently far apart from each other. They're nestled in quiet pine groves on a ridge overlooking the lake. The lake is electric motors only,…

Great spot for serious fishermen

This is a combo campground and city park, a joint effort of the Minnesota Dept of Natural Resources and the city of Baudette. While serving the recreational needs of townsfolk, it also provides great access to the famous Rainy River and a good place for out of town fishermen to stay. The campgound…

Great hidden gem

This park is a great hidden gem. Right up against the Rainy River. We spent 3 nights out here and it was wonderful. Only reason we docked it one star was the water. It has an old manual hand pump that takes forever to prime and use.

We spent the day fishing here and the small mouth along the…

Best walk in site

Main campground nice but the real surprise is the walk in site right on the bank of the rainy river looking right at Canada. Secluded big hike in spot. Definitely check it out

Camping in Mosquito Country

Campsites secluded bathrooms were closed when we visited so only vault toilets were open. Mosquitos in this whole are were thick definitely plan on bringing A LOT of bug spray if going in the summer.

Bare Bones

This little campground is here as overflow for the nearby resort. It is located near the water, oak harbor golf course and the little town of Baudette. Its right off of highway 72 so it is very convenient.

Its also close enough to several waterways from Wheelers Point and Baudette border waterway…

Close to the Marina

The campground itself is the biggest of all of them in Zippel bay state park. It is also the closest to the marina and this is probably why it was full midweek. Couple families were occupying a couple of sites so it was a bit noisy but I don’t blame the campground for that. There was no host to…

Simple and level sites.

This campground is in the middle of the park. About a 10 min drive from the entrance. Nice level sites and they offer some privacy from your neighbors. Bugs were more noticeable here for some reason, but the birds never stopped singing so that was nice to hear.

Pretty simple set up with some…
