Not Ohio’s best state park, but not the worst either

Stayed here several times in the summer of 2020 bc it was only an hour and a half from home and usually had sites available on or near the lake.

The algae was kind of thick, which made fishing impossible,so we stopped bringing the kayak.

Great Campground

My family has camped here the last two years and I’ve already made reservations for another trip this summer. The amenities are great with nice, clean showers and large sites. We’ve tent camped on the south side of the campground which seems to have more large and secluded sites. Having walked around it seems that the north side has more open condensed sites, but from what I can tell, generally all areas are pretty good (down side to the south side is being on the open lake and hearing loud boats all day).

For some it might be a pretty standard state park campground but for us it’s quickly becoming an annual family escape.

Beautiful park!

This is one of those parks you need to be careful when picking your site. After a lot of looking online we chose site 260. Unfortunately, the website seems to have some incorrect pictures for sites. Fortunately, our site was still amazing. The pads are kind of small and some are dangerously unlevel and probably unusable for a lot of campers. Our site was large, very tree covered and shady. There are only a handful of sites that are somewhat private, most are open but wooded. The sites only had 15A plugs but the power was very stable during a hot and humid time of year, and the campground was fully booked. The waterfront sites are gorgeous and directly in the water. Right behind us was a huge nature preserve where they permanently closed some sites because BALD EAGLE'S nest there each year. Supposedly it's one of the largest nesting areas. The small restrooms around the campground are the usual outdated small houses but the shower houses are updated and very nice. There is a large park, public space along the water, a beach and a small public fishing pier and boat launch. The camp store looks large and nice but of course was closed for the "virus". All in all, we highly recommend a trip here but caution to research the site's. Maybe even a trip to write down your favorites if you can. We personally like to color code a camp map for every place we go.

Nice, but busy!

West Branch is one of the best-known family campgrounds in NE Ohio. And it's not hard to understand why. Full amenities, clean facilities, and a nice lake round out the picture of a great place to get some family R&R.

Here's what you can expect:

1. It's Busy.

Like, really busy. Be sure to book early as spots fill up often. Sites are fairly close to each other, but most people seem respectful of space and limits.

2. It's Accessible.

West Branch is a quick drive from Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Youngstown - hence the draw. if you live anywhere close, there's no reason NOT to check this place out!

3. It's Fun (but a bit loud)

If you're looking for quiet, West Branch might not be the place for you. Since the lake has not real HP limits, you'll hear boats motoring quite a bit throughout the day.

4. It's got everything :)

Seriously. There's nothing else you could want. Hiking trails, swimming, a fully stocked office for the essentials you forgot.

Quick tip: Bring swimsuits. There are plenty of places to swim in the well-kept beaches or off a boat. West Branch is a great family getaway for summer swimming!

Camping on the Hills

The park is very nice. Great Lodge. Nice lakes and cabins to rent. The camp grounds for RV's is not the best. Very few full hookups. Rest of the sites only have 15-20 amp service. The lots are not even close the level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground. If they leveled the lots and added water and at least 30 amp electric it would help a lot.

Great Park, Close to the Water!

The Linesville Campground is a mid-sized state park campground with level, wooded sites, right on the Pymantuning Lake. A short walk to the marina which hires boats and sells snacks& fuel. There is a campground fish cleaning station with complimentary fridges/freezers.

The amenities are well kept with plenty of space, located in the center of the park. There is also a laundry. They accommodate tents, RV’s and have cabins also. RV dump station and water fill up conveniently located in the center of the grounds.

The township of Linesville is just 5min drive from the park entrance. Great weekend escape from Pittsburgh. They welcome furry friends!

Great family campground

Oil F.C. is a hidden gem nestled in the woods not far from Oil Creek State Park. They have a great playground, a maze, a catch and release pond. Lots of things to do to keep the kids, or in our case the grandkids occupied. They have a well stocked camp store, in case you don't want to make the 4 mile ride into town. Their firewood prices are very reasonable. Rachel is a great in accommodating her campers. We were there 3 times this year. Its become our goto campground that's only an hour away from Erie.

Base for mobile working

Kenisee Lake RV Campground is a wonderful place to work from remotely if you have an external antenna to cellular internet. The campground is clean with plenty of open space and trails. The staff was wonderful. I called because I was going to arrive late past closing hours. They checked me in over the phone and left all of my site information on the outside of the building. Great Staff!

Perfect weekend getaway

I highly recommend this campground. We were here for the first time last year and loved it so much we came back this year. The park itself and the bathrooms were very clean. We book a lakefront site and it is just gorgeous! We have our own private little beach which our dog loves. Which is another plus, we have a Rottie mix and they allow her in. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because both times we have been here, the lady at the check in drive up window seemed very confused to where it came off as a little rude. We didn’t know our site number so I gave her my name, and from there it was a fiasco. The check in process took longer than needed. But that won’t stop us from returning. Other than that, it was a perfect weekend getaway! We will be back!

Tent camping

This is a large campground with mostly RV sites. The tent area was relatively small with little space or privacy between sites, and a picnic table and fire pit at each. Most sites were pretty sloped. No real hiking trails here unfortunately, its mostly a fishing/boating park
