Inner city camping

Was a bit curious about staying at a place that, on the map, was between two towns on a river. This campground was really nice. If you did not want to cook, there are 4 restaurants within 3 blocks of your campsite. And a Cabelas within 4 blocks, so if you forget anything, it’s close by. There are…

Nice way to stay for less when going to the casino

There are quite a few RV sites at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen and they offer full hookups!  We stayed at site 19, shown in the photo.  Although the sites are close together, there were quite a few empty sites so we felt like it was semi-private.  The cost was about $25 per night so definitely…

Several decent hammock camping sites

As primarily a hammock camper I am often frustrated with trying to find sites online. So I wanted to say that Buffalo River State Park, in addition to some very good prairie and woodland trails, as some excellent sites for hammock campers. Specifically those in the non-electric sites. This park has…

secluded county park on the river

This park has been closed on and off during the time of the pandemic. When open, it is a hidden gem for rustic camping in terms of setting and location, deep in the woods and right on a bend on the river. The campsites  are well spaced and shaded, and the tenting area is particularly spacious.…

Urban RV Park

This the most urban state park campground in MN. It’s within East Grand Forks. Not quiet and felt like a town of RVs. Great amenities and coffee nearby, not wild.

Clean, cute and well located

This was an overnight while on a cross country trip. Even though the site is close to highway, it felt like we were in a more isolated campsite. The campsite was clean and shady. There is a swimming pool (closed for season) that looked like a nice place with a sandy bottom. There was a playground…

Convenient, clean, and nice

The north campground loop is more RV-oriented, while the smaller south loop attracts the tents. The sites are fairly close together but those on the outside of the south loop have some vegetation to separate them so they feel reasonably private. Nice bathroom facilities, including an outdoor…

An RV camping experience, unless you're walking

If you're looking for somewhere to park a big RV, this campground is modern, convenient, and nicely-equipped. There's no privacy or nature to be had, though. It's a grassy plain with straight rows of pull-throughs.

However, there are a handful of walk-in sites off to the side that looked…

Great little campsite

This is a very well kept camping area. The sites are nicely situated. We stayed in the tent are (#39) and were very private from our right and left neighbors but others are directly across from us. The bathhouse is newer and extremely clean. Yes, the mosquitos are plentiful but it is because…

Overnight Quiet Stay

Overnight stop! We stayed on outside by prairie and the quietness, and beautiful wildflowers are great! A train goes by in the distance every few hours! Not bad! Reminds us of home..

Campground with a history

This campground used to be houses before flooding so the roads are paved campsites are pretty open mostly all pull through sites. Walk in campsites on the red river give amazing views and seclusion just a short walk away. Campground is also right downtown East Grand Forks for easy access for any…

So so. Close to Fargo/Moorhead though

Buffalo river is not our favorite State Park but it is close to family and friends in the Fargo Morehead area. For the most part it’s just really mosquitoey. Make sure you bring bug spray. The campsites aren’t quite as spread out as some of the other state parks and it’s not as wooded as you’re in…

Small town campground near Hwy 2

This is another typical small town campground located within a city park. The park has large shade trees, playground and picnic shelter, and shares ball fields with the adjacent school. It is clearly a nice outdoor community gathering space that also has an area where camping is allowed. The…

Good campsite

Nice, small campsite. We stayed a couple of times late summer/early fall 2019. Bummer was the swimming beach was closed for the summer. Some trails that were nice to check out. Electric hook-ups. No playground. Definitely recommend sites on the outer loop, especially along the tree line. Great…
