Travelers Paradise RV Park

At Lighthouse RV Park we offer our guests a quiet, secure camp area in a country setting. We are conveniently located only ten miles from beautiful Matagorda Beach and just four miles from Matagorda, Texas and Matagorda Harbor, one of the best facilities on the Texas Gulf coast. Our proximity to Matagorda Beach and Bays is ideal for fishermen, hunters and bird watchers. The Matagorda, Texas area offers visitors kayaking, bay fishing, bird watching, surf fishing, shelling, swimming, jetty fishing and great seafood at several local Matagorda restaurants.

A $10 permit is required to drive on the beach, but camping is free.

If you do not want to drive on the beach, you can walk with your gear and do not have to pay the $10 fee. 

Camping on the beach is welcomed in Matagorda and there are no additional fees to camp. You can camp anywhere on the beaches in Matagorda county including Jetty park for up to 72 hours. Tents and RVs are permitted but beware of the soft sand if you are bringing an RV. See below for information on parking areas if you do not or can not drive onto the sand.

If you don’t want to drive onto the beach there are a couple of parking areas within walking distance. The first and best area is Jetty Park at the end of FM 2031. This is a County Park and there is no usage fee. There are bathrooms, outdoor showers, and covered picnic tables as well as a walking pier and the Colorado River Jetties.
