## Overview

Pat Mayse West Campground is on the banks of its namesake lake in the Red River Basin in Lamar County, Texas. Easy access to developed park areas has made the lake a haven for families who enjoy camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing and other outdoor recreation. 

## Recreation

The lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers will find largemouth bass, white crappie, sunfish, striped bass and channel and flathead catfish, among other species.  
  
Hunting is a very popular activity in the area. The surrounding lands are managed for upland game and whitetail deer. Other species present include fox squirrel, gray squirrel, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, cottontail rabbit, raccoon and fox. Opossum, beaver, mink, skunk and nutria are also present.  
  
The lake also provides resting and feeding habitats for migratory waterfowl. A few miles north of the project area are the famed Red River Bottoms where waterfowl congregate in impressive numbers.

## Facilities

This year-round campground offers 88 sites, 83 of which have electric hookups. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station and boat ramp.

## Natural Features

Pat Mayse Lake covers almost 6,000 acres and has 67 miles of shoreline. It is situated among gently rolling grasslands and mixed hardwood forests studded with mature pines. Wildlife is abundant in the surrounding area.

Portal sign at West Lake Crockett on the Caddo National Grassland Located on the northwest shore of the 450-acre Lake Crockett, West Lake Crockett Recreation Area was completed in 1968. Lake Crockett was built in the 1930s as a recreation site for the area. Visitors may fish from the shore.

## Overview

Virgil Point Campground is a large, grassy campground in a forested expanse of southeast Oklahoma. The camp is perched along the banks of Hugo Lake, providing guests with plenty of recreational opportunities.

## Recreation

Hugo offers activities for many differetn types of recreation. 

There are always fish to be caught in the Kiamichi River and in Hugo Lake. The northern half of Hugo Lake is flooded timber, which offers exceptional fishing opportunities. From early sand bass and slab crappie to late season fall bass, anglers will always find opportunities. The catfishing is excellent during the summer.

Hunters are welcome to enjoy over 25,000 acres of land managed by either the Army Corps of Engineers or Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. Bow hunting is permitted in and around most the park areas. Kiamichi Park features an archery practive range, a shooting range, and a 3,000-acre Quality Deer Management Area. 

Recreational boaters enjoy the wide open lower lake, with it's open water, beautiful limestone rock walls, and sandy banks. 

Nature abounds at Hugo Lake. Wildlife around the lake includes land and waterfowl, whitetail deer, mink, fox and beaver.

Virgil Point Campground features 51 spacious, modern campsites. A boat ramp is available to enhance visitor's enjoyment of the lake.

## Natural Features

Hugo Lake Dam is located on the Kiamichi River, 18 river miles upstream from its confluence with the Red River. The dam, completed in 1974, provides flood control, water supply and fish and wildlife management for nearby communities. It also provides a recreational oasis for outdoor enthusiasts of all types.

## Overview

Burns Run West Campground is located on Lake Texoma in Oklahoma's Cross Timbers Region. The lake is thought to be the "Playground of the Southwest," where outdoor activities like fishing, boating, hiking, and hunting abound.

## Recreation

Lake Texoma is a large reservoir with an excellent fishery and many access points. Boating, swimming, water skiing, hunting, birding and relaxing on the sandy beaches are the typical pursuits of most visitors.  
  
The lake is known as the "Striper Capital of the World," one of the few reservoirs in the nation where striped bass reproduce naturally. Other popular species include largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, hybrid striped bass, white crappie, black crappie, channel catfish, and blue catfish.  
  
Also available is the scenic Cross Timbers hiking trail, a very popular trail that winds for 14 miles above the lake on rocky ledges and through blackjack woodland. Forty miles of equestrian trails surround the lake as well.

## Facilities

Burns Run West offers 117 family campsites, 105 of which have electrical and water hookups. Five group campsites and two large, day-use group picnic shelters with electricity are available as well.   
  
Other amenities include flush and vault toilets, showers and drinking water. Three dump stations, a boat ramp, playground and beach are located on-site.

## Natural Features

The campground is situated on the southeastern shores of Lake Texoma, with beautiful views overlooking the main portion of lake. Post and blackjack oaks forest the rolling hills of the region. Deer, turkeys, bobcats, hawks, waterfowl, and songbirds are abundant around the lake.

The lake features two wildlife refuges, two state parks, and 23 commercial concession areas dedicated to the enjoyment of over six million visitors annually.
