Beautiful canyon

My family stayed in the Caprock Canyon state park Honey Flats loop. Stunning views of the canyon are within a short walk from the campground. The paved pad at our site was level, and there was also a sheltered picnic table at the site. All sites were very spacious and felt private. A herd of bison…

Quiet, Clean, Free, It’s A Rest Area

Best for a quick overnight stay. Quiet, super clean, and just an overall nice facility. Several covered picnic areas, with standup grills. There is a stream with stair access. Although close to road, it’s slopes down in areas for noise reduction. I sent great in a campervan. Close to Lubbock.

Beautiful Spot

Camped in spot #59. Went back in January and had a great time. The views are breath taking. Just hanging around around the campsite is amazing. No light pollution at night so stars are abundant. The camp sites have shade shelters with tables. Fire ring and grill at each but be aware of the common…

Free hook ups

One would think with free 30 & 50 amp and water hook up it should be a five star. Problem is your so close to the road theirs a lot of traffic noise. Not only that, the building in the park which host the sites is also used as a activity center which is busy during the day. Theirs trash…

Cool Little Park

I spend a couple days here, camping in a primitive / hike-in site, and hiking during the day. It’s a very cool park and a must-visit for anyone in the DFW area since it’s an easy weekend trip. The primitive sites could be farther apart - they were close enough that I frequently unintentionally…

Can't wait to come back!

Camped a single night and unfortunately caught a gnarly winter thunderstorm over night. We were looking forward to the awesome start nights we've read so much about, but will have to wait till next time. The camp site was nice tho. Fire ring, grills, covered table, and enough space between sites.…

Home sweet home....

The Rolling Plains has been home to my family for a long long time and it’s always wonderful to be back. Copper Breaks is a beautiful, wild place perfectly managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife. A light touch all around with simple, compact campgrounds to keep a small footprint on the terrain. This…

A Spectacular Park with Surprising Scenery and Wildlife.

Created by the Red River, Caprock Canyon State Park, lies about 125 miles to the southeast of Palo Duro Canyon. While many similarities exist between the two state parks, the differences are striking. For starters, this park features the remaining heard of Southern Plains Bison (related to the…

Awesome!

Had a 2 night stay on our cross country trip and it was perfect.  The campsites were well spaced, level, clean, and easy hook ups (no septic though). We took advantage of the trails and did a 7 mile hike on the moderate level.  Low level military jets occasional during the day was the only faint…

Beautiful Canyon and Camp, decent facilities

A nice park with lots of camp sites. RV hook ups, and lots of dispersed camps around the pack. Some are hike or horse in sites.

Nestled in a beautiful canyon with tons of trials for hiking or horseback.

Park also has a small lake, Lake Theo, which holds some really nice fish.

The herd of…

Do not tent camp here. They mislead you and then fine you $200

Do not tent camp here. They will mislead you and then give you a huge fine!!! When we booked the campsite as a fun activity for our pandemic fatigued 6-year old granddaughter, they told me our car would be close to our campsite. We get there at 4 on a Friday afternoon in November and we were the…

Wonderful Camping

We stayed in the South Prong Tent Area, not to be confused with the South Prong Primitive area (which you have to hike into).

We stayed on site SU037. There is no tree cover, which is ok if you want that morning sun warmth, but know that if it gets super windy (which apparently happens a lot…

Comfortable site with FREE electricity and water!

This place really made our travels more smooth. It's easy to find and worth it! We were the only people at the park the day we stayed. There are 8 sites, each with their own W& E hookup and shade tree. The site was spacious and level. Each site is a pull thru. The site was very clean. Free for…

Great camping with amazing scenery

My son and I spent a night here and it was great! I’d recommend south prong primitive sites. Got to sleep right at the base of the canyon and there was plenty of space between the campsites.

My only problem was that some of the trails were not very well marked. It took us a while to find the…
