So nice but watch out for spontaneous rivers when it rains!

Love the park. The spots by the river are shaded and great. Saw armadillos! Enjoyed the trails. But we had a heavy rain storm and we were at the bottom of a hill so the water flowed in a path right through our site and our tent literally floated. But then it dried up and was fine.

Really nice state park campground

Nice RV sites and CCC built cabins on a relatively low traffic lake. There are many stone works from the CCC including benches and tables at some sites. We stayed in the Comanche trails loop which is part RV sites and part tent sites. I really liked it, compared to the other 2 RV loops we saw.…

Second best site at these grounds

Great site. Right next to the river with clean water. Short 20yd walk downhill from the car parking area, but it makes it feel secluded compared to the other sites. Wide open, tons of space, deer come around at night which is super cool, river access for kayaking. The next campsite over is the best…

Great River Campsite

Located in a shady river valley, hills and large trees provide late evening shade to the whole campground. There are water faucets, a rinse shower and composting toilets but no plumbing restroom facility. Campsite 17 is not shady during high sun hours but toward the late afternoon and early evening…

State Park review

Lake Brownwood area is full of trees, nice lake for boating, fishing and jet skis. The state park sits on a pretty cove of the lake. Sites 50,51 offer privacy and are close the bathroom/showers....not too close. You can see the water, but aren’t lakefront. Typical state park amenities. Sites have…

Nice Quiet Campground

Green grass, well spaced concrete pads, and large pecan trees right along the San Saba river. There are full hookups and cable tv. The office is confusing and is down at the golf course office. (Avoid parking in the spaces up against the river and under the pecan trees. A couple of large branches…

Along the River

We camped here 1/31/21 to 2/5/21. Sites were good sized and shaded which was a slight issue for our solar panel but there are other sites without shade. About 200 yards to the little store/office where you can get some WIFI and water is also there. No power or water at sites. We loved the trails…

Nice State Park, But Lacking Amenities by B

My first camping trip in TX, my mistake in going in Hot August. There are no hookups and generators are not allowed. I have an Aliner trailer, and no shade over most of the sites. There is good hiking and you can get to the Colorado river. Pretty long hike (I rode my MTN bike and it was a 45 min…

Great Park

Between the swimming hole and Gorman Falls you have some great views and amazing hiking! Saw some deer and hogs while out hiking on this property. Armadillo are all over the place as well.. Do be aware the cell service is pretty much nonexistent down at the campsites. There was a general store…

Amazing price and friendly!

So reasonably priced and owners go out of their way to help, from booking to advice and suggestions on area attractions.

Lovely land along the Colorado River

While the RV sites are a bit plain, with minimal trees, a small fire ring and basic picnic table, the area that you are in is very beautiful. It's a short walk over to the Colorado River, and you can walk the dirt roads of the land to explore much more of the property. Colorado Bend State Park is a…

Epic beach camping

Wow, such an amazing camping experience! We boondocked with our 36ft motorhome right on the beach.

$12 to get in and stay as much as you’d like. Busy on weekends but very quiet during the week.

They allow driving on the beach here from access #5 and north of it. Watch the tides, best to get in…

Gorgeous CCC Cabins & Nice Campground

The remarkable area of this park lies not in it's campground loop. The loop is pretty, lovely even, and it looks like a lot of other campgrounds on a beautiful lake. But take a walk along the lakeshore trail and see the cabins, dance hall, and steps constructed by the CCC and you'll be transported…

Quiet, Rustic, & Beautiful

This is camping the way we like it -- rustic, beautiful and inexpensive.  And, there was no one there in January, despite the state parks being packed!  We had the place completely to ourselves, with the exception of a few fisherman.

For $5 a night you can camp at any one of the dozens of…
