Amazing state park

We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the RV spots in this state park. So much room!

Pros:

  • Large sites.
  • Lots of easy trails.
  • Plenty of recreational opportunities.

Cons:

  • If you miss the turn off to the 2nd loop of campsites, there is no place to turn around for miles.
  • The entrance road to campsite loop is really only 1.5 lanes wide, except at the turnoff. There is no shoulder.
This a a pretty resort but crowded

This is a pretty resort but crowded with full timers not RV full timers but but people livening here. They are sitting outside playing Mexican music loud at 2:00am with no respect for other neighbors. The management staff are no where to be found and no phone numbers to contact anyone for help. Don’t bother staying here unless you don’t want to sleep. It in now 3am.

Pretty nice, close to the River Walk

Pretty nice for an RV park. Nice pool area. Close to the river walk, which is very well maintained. Sites are small, but there is a little green area next to each. Be sure to follow their directions and not your GPS, as there is a very low bridge one way and bottom scraping RR crossing another.

Great weekend getaway

We went on a nice weekend in early Feb and although it was chilly at night (down to mid-30s), the sun warmed us up during the day. The water was nice and clear blue, my husband enjoyed fly fishing. It was difficult to get a good hike in, I couldn’t figure out how to get to the longer hikes on the north side of the river without leaving the park and driving around. But since we were only there for a quick weekend it was just fine to walk around a bit. We went to the river overlook and that was pretty. Our spot was in the Turkey Sink campground, spot 65. It’s easy to see your neighbor from this spot but the campground was nice and quiet at night/early morning. Friendly staff too, and clean restrooms with showers. Had a great time!

Family fun, better for littles than teens

We came for the month of January to camp next to friends. It’s a family RV park and has nice amenities. We are just outgrowing the atmosphere. It’s nothing against the park, we just have a teenager. (14) I recommend it for any families with younger kids! If you have a teen who rolls their eyes as a bounce pillow and isn’t interested in miniature golf, probably keep looking.

Our site is wooded and has a nice fire pit—but unfortunately right now there is a burn ban in Comal County.

Pet friendly! Has a small dog park.

Really nice spot

We stained over New Years, beautiful little spot. Camp was very clean and had decent large bathrooms with a clean shower. Sites are large and well maintained, covered area was very nice and sturdy. Large amount of room between sites. No sewer hock up so we had to pump out. No fires they had a burn ban in effect but we were allowed to grill. Had a few visitors to the site. Would definitely stay again, very nice small RV park.

Hidden gem in the Texas Hill Country

Absolutely hidden gem in the Texas Hill Country. Has a hidden cave and big rock in the river to jump off and it’s private!

Serene setting at dusk

Cranes mill is a National Park. I purchased the senior lifetime pass and was able to stay every night for half price at this serene park. We arrived on the afternoon of Columbus Day weekend and we're happy that the park cleared out a bit on Monday. The views were spectacular at sunset. I appreciated camping on a small peninsula being able to see Canyon Lake on both sides of our campground. Most of the pads were fairly level though ours was a bit steep. We were disappointed that there was a burn ban at that time. The small town of Startzeville is very near with adequate grocery and forgotten item facilities. We found this a very nice, clean and quiet camp site in near proximity of home.

Nice country setting

Owners are very nice. Campground is very clean. Campground makes you feel like you are in the country but close enough to San Antonio to visit downtown in about 20 minutes.

Dino tracks

It was about a 3 hour hike to the dino tracks… amazing views
