Chasing Shade at Inks Lake

September 2021

We took our first trip to Inks this week, camping there Sunday through Wednesday. We got lucky that the temperatures those days dipped into the high 80s for us, as they had been in the mid to high 90s for months. When we arrived we were told that the spot we reserved wasn’t…

One of my favorite State Parks

This is one of my favorite State parks. The water sites are so beautiful and the sunsets are amazing. We love kayaking over to Devils waterin’ Hole. There are also a lot of beautiful hiking trails that go up and around the granite out droppings. My favorite time to visit is the spring when the…

Probably my favorite park for a quick trip

I’ve stayed here lots of times in tent sites, RV sites, and the cabins. I like them all and especially love the hikes and swimming.

Excellent Restful Campground

Live Oak Ridge COE Campground is excellently maintain and is a very low-key, restful place to land.  Large sites with ample vehicle parking that offer substantial distance from the neighboring sites give room to bring multiple vehicles or a boat along with the RV.  The sites are well maintained by…

Very Clean Fishing Camp

Lots of level, grassy, shaded sites.

The front part is for rv hookups, with the back road (will need a higher clearance vehicle) for tent/car camping. Lots of places to access the river. They also have a pool, the springs, showers and a bathroom, as well as cabins.

Primitive Site hike is beautiful

Sites were isolated, though we could still somewhat see our neighbors. Ground was even. Favorite part of the site was definitely the hike out.

Wonderful place to camp and hike

We loved Inks and will definitely return. The park was clean, the bathrooms were well maintained and the staff was really helpful.  No issues..everyone minded their business.  We always like to leave the place better than we found it and there was not alot of trash.  Lots of good hiking trails and…

Mostly good

No sewer hookups, dump station only. It rained while we were there in late June and flies and mosquitoes were numerous. Nice lake that you can wade out for 50 feet. We are T mobile and there is no service for us. Had to drive 15 miles into Burnet to make a phone call. Verizon campers next door…

Quiet

We have a pull behind. We were very surprised at how level our gravel campsite was. It made setup a breeze. The loop makes backing into your spot easy. The wifi is decent. We have enjoyed the hiking trails down by the water and the playground for our kids.

Inks Lake SP

We didn't actually get to stay here because we didn't make reservations in time. (Would have been here in February 2021) On a drive through, there are tons of sites, some wooded and some not and lots of trails, bird watching opportunities etc. If we ever come back to Texas we will try to reserve…

Clean, beautiful, peaceful.

The campgrounds are very clean and quiet. Everyone has been so friendly. Bathrooms are spacious and well kept. We were in spot 11. There is a nice amount of trees and greenery, but zero view of the water. Unless you go 6 or more sites down to the boat ramp and circle back down the ramp, there…

Nice place. Easy drop box.. Expensive for no amenities.

Was planning on tent camping nearby and left a day early and all the hotel room were booked. Tried finding a tent site and no luck. Found this place online and figured I'd give it a shot. First come first serve, pick your spot, fill out the card, put it and 25 bucks in a drop box and good to go.…

Very nice

I stayed there for 3 months in my 24 foot motorhome. They usually have a waiting list. Very nice park with mostly permanent residents. Lots of trees. River access. Bathrooms with showers, laundry room, fenced dog park, common areas with rec room, huge grassy area.

Beautiful Park, well maintained

First primitive camping trip and was lucky to get the last camping spot available for a holiday weekend. The area of the state park where the primitive camping is is very quiet, about 2 miles walk away from the RV and cabin camping. So not much traffic near our spot. The site was cleared well and…
