Friendly people

We actually booked online a couple weeks in advance just in case and had no issue with the check in, we fished, swam and had a great time.... there weren’t a ton of people there and everyone was friendly The campground was close enough to the water to pull the kayaks across to

Doris Campground

A truely interesting park. The Wichita mountains give you a sense that you can almost feel the native Indiaans. Mysterious & spiritual aura that surrounds you. We were in an electric loop with maybe a dozen other sites. Being from themidwest, not use to the barron granite mountains &…

Absolutely wonderful camping and hiking!! Lots of camping spots - and most were well distanced for plenty of privacy. Due to COVID all spots require pre-registration online and only self contained vehicles are permitted (all bathrooms are closed). There is no service in the park, but about 2 bars…

Very nice for a state park 9/20/20

Pros: easy access from state hwy. Restrooms were very clean. This park has made pull through sites for big rigs. The lake and fishing area are great. Very quite and no artificial lights, heat place to star gaze. Love the little circles the water/electricity sites are located. Large site next side…

Mountains in Oklahoma??

This is an awesome place to visit for the day or weekend! It’s only about 3 hours from the Dallas area and is very scenic. Lots of wildlife and fun trails to hike! The campground fills up quick so get there early.

Hiking for the day

So hiking is probably not a real description of this. Walking on grass trails that are flat and mowed is more like it. They have a very nice disc golf course and the "trails" are part of that system. Small camping area and lake access but we didn't use these.

Pleasant surprise

The park is very clean, they have primitive, water + electric and just water campsites. Each site has a fire ring and a covered picnic table. The park is located just a few minutes from the freeway. You can fish, canoe, kayak or paddleboard but you need to bring your own. We enjoyed everything…

Good for a weekend getaway.

Prairie dogs inhabit the eastern half of the campground. Awesome creatures to watch for hours. There are a few hiking trails that are short but are mowed. Plenty of native wild flowers to log for those who are into flowers. There is one pump jack (diesel powered oil pump). The two camp circles…

Very popular with fishermen/women

Let me preface this review by saying I do not fish. This campground had more fishing going on than just about anywhere I've been before. I felt like my friend and I were the only people who didn't have fishing gear.

The campground itself was quite pleasant. There are a lot of trees, green grass…
