North Texas state park camping

Facilities and surrounding area were real nice. Just a one nighter but took the dog on a long hike.

Quiet place with Bison roaming the campground!

What a neat place!! The staff is great! The Rangers are friendly and helpful! The sites are pretty darn level and well spaced apart.(there might be an occasional Bison dropping in the way, but hey, I can deal with that!!) It is very clean and well maintained. It is well out of town, very peaceful.…

First time staying at an RV resort

Impressed by what this place had to offer! Nice pool area, laundry room, and decent little gym. The only downside is the location as far as pulling into the park itself is right off of an interstate and is a pretty tight turn off a somewhat busy road. All in all would stay again!

Very clean and safe!

We enjoyed our stay at the Retreat. The concrete pads made set up so nice and easy! The trees are so nice to find in Lubbock during the summer. The swimming pool looked so inviting, but our schedule didn’t allow our use. I could hear some traffic noise, but we are in a city. I had forgotten how…

Great Travel Stop

Stopped here for the night on the way to New Mexico. Right on highway 84. Road noise is not too bad. Bathhouse is super clean and so is laundry area. There is a small dog park. Have great Verizon and TMobile service. OTA channels are fantastic, with over 60 clear channels. Park also has cable but…

Convenient with Trees

We stopped for one night going to Santa Fe. The park has lots of greenery, level sites and a great dog park. Full hook ups were nicely placed, and we were conveniently placed near the dog park. The showers, library and exercise room was orderly and clean. Very pleasant environment overall.

Functional but LOUD

Has the standard KOA amenities (bathroom, shower, laundry, etc), but also has a hot tub, indoor pool, and a pretty decent offering of supplies for sale in the main office.

The downside here, and why it loses stars, is that it is right next to a busy highway, which is loud ALL night. It sounded…

Great spot for a night

We went to visit this park with low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Lots of outstanding sites. Only $12 a night to camp with no facilities. It was quite pricey for gas and electric sites, about $40 a night. Only one shower house but it has been recently renovated. The nice thing about…

Amazing site

This is my favorite place to camp in Texas, second only to BiBe (though I haven’t been to Palo Duro yet). A truly beautiful site. We hiked out at 11pm and the moon was so bright we almost didn’t need headlamps. Lots of bison poop, and lots of coyote howling. The sites were pretty spread out, and…

No reservation...Don't bother going here.

I read up on this park and planned it into my route based on everything I read. It looked like a nice place. Nothing I read indicated a reservation was required. It did look a little pricey for a campground but still cheaper than a hotel. I arrived early enough to set camp before dark. Got to the…

Awesome campsite!!

This was probably one of my favorite campsites I’ve ever stayed at. It’s a walk-in but it’s a very short walk. Campsite can’t be seen from the road. There is one neighboring campsite that would have changed my experience had it been occupied. But since it wasn’t, it was a very peaceful and quiet…

Woke up to the Buffalo licking my tent, awesome experience. Coyotes yip at night, stars are beautiful. Showed up late and was able to set up camp and pay the next morning. Prettiest campgrounds ever
