The best TENT SITES camping near

We stayed on site 36 as it has a long pad and a nice angle that you wouldn't be close to your neighbors (not that we had any this weekend). In the summer it would provide a little shade and lots of green space to spread out. In the winter the flush toilets are closed, but the vault toilets are open, were pretty clean and had toilet paper stocked. This park has nice hiking trials, mountain bike trails, a lake, playground for the kids and both electric and non-electric sites. We had a nice fire ring which had a good cooking great if you wanted to use it. There are no camp hosts in the off season. We hiked part of a mountain bike trail and only saw one bike go through. There are a lot of hikers who use the trail a lot. The only disappointing thing was how full the trash was. They don't really dump them in the winter because the locals use them. Be prepared to walk your trash to the dumpsters up by the flush toilets as they aren't as full.

We stopped here on Thanksgiving on our way South. Self paying, off season was $15. But the restrooms were closed. There were only 3 other sides occupied. Nice little campground in the Appalachian Foothills. Be aware that Google maps doesn't send you to the campground but to a parking lot at the Lake (25 min detour). So make sure you follow the State Park signs.

We stayed here for two months (November and December). It is conveniently located near I-70. Only a few sites are open through the off-season months. Owners are polite, but we’re rarely onsite during our time there. The bathrooms are clean, but were closed at times (not sure why), but we were able to use our 5th wheel so it was not a big problem for us. For the most part, this is a quiet campground and there seems to be some upgrades taking place. Two cute little ponds are at the center of the campground and there is a little store onsite, although it is mostly closed during the off-season. Campers are rather close with smaller lots. All in all, it was an ok campground and we would return again if we needed to stay in that area again.

Quiet family campground with many amenities. Perfect river location for kayaking or tubing. Fantastic fishing.

A.W. Marion is nice and quiet. It's fairly small, and some of the spots looked challenging to back into, including the one I chose. The people we encountered there were friendly. The bathrooms seemed clean (didn't use them but did look inside), and the camper hosts were nice. Honestly, we probably won't camp there again, but that's not to say it wasn't a nice campground. Recommended.

We went in July. It was incredibly crowded. Many sites were set up as buddy sites so we had to share our outside space with our neighbors. It was tight and awkward.

There is zero internet and no signal which is fine for camping but made finding the weather or maps very challenging.

The roads are narrow and there are a lot of people. We did not kayak the river bc there were just too many people on the river, the water was low due to lack of rain this summer, and when we could see the grotesque adult behavior from the road, we knew we weren't interested in joining that mess.

The site was clean, it is full hookup, and they drive you to your site, which was nice. There is a fire bowl and picnic table for each site and dogs are allowed. Our pull through site was plenty level and accommodated our 33' camper and truck. There is a trail off the campground which is nice. The Mohican State park is full of great trails.

The campground is easy to find and everyone was very nice and the other campers are mostly respectful. There were a few cars and motorcycles that kept "cruising" around which felt strange but was likely harmless.

We love this park! Lots of hiking! Even saw a bald eagle this trip.

Another Thanksgiving spent in our camper and it was so nice and relaxing. There were more campers than a expected this weekend. I guess everyone likes to social distance in there campers too.

Camping in the off season is our favorite time of year. This particular park has potable water on by the dump station and the dump station is open. The water at the full hook up sites are turned off.

No cell service with Verizon at this park.

I love the buckeye lake koa. Great cabins and amazing fishing.
