    Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA

    Small basic campground near Toledo

Our site was $59.95 a night.

We were in Site# 504. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. We were charged $25 additional for my jeep since we were towing the trailer. We also were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM. The park was close to empty so arriving early was not an inconvenience. We drove ourselves to our spot (no escort).

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

There is free WiFi, although not strong. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily before noon.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool but it is currently closed due to maintenance (although it just looked closed- no signs of maintenance being done).

There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes, corn hole, giant jinga.

They have a basic general store. There are not scheduled activities for kids.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes. This is an RV park with tent camping and cabins to rent.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. There are approximately 4 washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry a load.

They have a small fenced in dog park.

There isn’t tons to doin the actual city of Perryville. But Toledo is a 20 minute drive.

    Blue Water Campground

    Our stay at bluewater

The staff is extremely friendly, and try to accomadate with anything you could need. The campesites are fairly large with gravel pads. They offer water and electric hook-up for 30&50 amps. There is not a sewer hook up but they do offer a weekly pump out for a small fee and a dump station on the way out. The pool, ponds, playground and pavillion are all within walking distance from almost any site.

    Sterling State Park Campground

    Travel Trailers

This park will accommodate any size travel trailer? Fifth wheel camper of any kind, the pull throughs are huge. The park is enormous with lots of fishing activities. Great water, the only downfall is there's no shade. Showers and restrooms are updated and always clean.

Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground

Just a visit to check it out

The pool looked to be the spot for the kids of all ages on this hot 4th of July. A well manicured campground, and while looking a bit narrow, it seemed some pull thrus for big rigs were adequate, with concrete pads and picnic tables. But all the driveways and pull thrus were gravel. Lots of seasonal trailers, and some large ones! No junk, and golf carts are restricted to electric.

    Perfect quiet place

Great campground. Pull through and back ins. Tent camping, four cabins. 50,30,20 full hookups. Electric, and water Full wooded area with older trees, small but has all modern enmities.
WiFi Cable Small store stocked with all the essentials that you need for your stay. Bath house updated and modern. Mini golf area, children’s playground, large jenga, and other outdoor games.
K9 area plus, little poop areas, with bags available. Pool (was closed when we were there) nice pool.
Close to stores and perfect area with gas stations that fit large vehicles. Many areas to visit and explore.
Camping for a vacation or traveling through. Full hookups are 56.00 (as of July 2021) could change, that’s up to KOA. Pull in, relax. They will even help with pulling in and hooking up.

    Ted Ranch Campground

No thrills, largely rustic, family oriented, friendly

This campground is pretty rustic with water and electricity at some sites, no showers or restrooms, a dump station for one at a time, Porta potties scattered around, small beach, small boat launch, mostly appears to be seasonal sites without sewer or rustic sites. Some but not a lot of shade, rolling fields being made into smaller sized sites. Dogs and dogs pens are allowed, and they do not appear to have parents who are attentive or keep them from barking. Friendly staff and family of four owners.

    Great spot!

Wonderful views from site 117. We booked the last spot of the night. It was an easy pull through with water, electric, and sewer hookup. You are right across from some good walking trails and walking distance to the beach. Lots of electric scooters, dogs, and bikes around.

    Harrison Lake State Park Campground

    Quiet place to get away

We have been here a few times. Really enjoy the secluded sites and the lake. It’s a small campground but it’s clean and quiet. Most sites don’t have water hookups but they do have electric. There isn’t much to do outside of the campground but there is a nice lake with canoe and kayak rentals. Very pet friendly and even has a dog beach.

Guide to Grand Rapids

Oak Openings Preserve sits just west of Grand Rapids, Ohio, with unique sandy soil supporting rare oak savanna habitat. The region features an unusual mix of oak ridges, wet prairies, and sandy dunes within 15 miles of the Maumee River. Camping options vary from primitive tent sites with free firewood to fully developed RV parks with concrete pads.

What to do

Hiking trails: White Oak Campground provides access to the 15.5 mile Scout Trail that loops through Oak Openings. "I was able to park my car here in the morning, hop on the trail (which runs right through the campground), and return later in the day," notes one visitor. The park contains diverse ecosystems from pine forests to sand dunes.

Fishing opportunities: Several campgrounds offer fishing ponds or lake access. "Multiple fishing spots for young and old" are available at Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground, according to a camper who rated their stay highly. Some locations feature stocked ponds that require no additional fishing license.

Recreation facilities: Harbortown RV Resort provides numerous recreation options. "Go carts, playground, disc golf, pool, ext... If you have kids it is perfect!" shared one visitor. Many campgrounds maintain basketball courts, volleyball nets, and playground equipment for younger campers.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathhouse cleanliness receives consistent praise across multiple campgrounds. At Harbor Town RV Resort, visitors appreciate the maintenance standards, with one noting it's "The best, cleanest, well maintained, under control campground we've ever been to." Regular bathroom cleaning makes extended stays more comfortable.

Quiet atmosphere: Most campgrounds near Grand Rapids maintain peaceful environments during weekdays. "Relaxing and quiet. There are paths to ride your bike or just walk," reports a camper at Harbor Town RV Resort. Weekends tend to be busier at most rv campgrounds in Grand Rapids, Ohio area, especially during holiday periods.

Friendly staff: Personnel at Camp Lord Willing RV Park & Campground receive consistently positive reviews. "The employees are very friendly and helpful," notes one visitor. Staff assistance with site selection and local recommendations enhances the camping experience for first-time visitors.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Many campgrounds operate on limited schedules. Twin Acres Campground runs from May through mid-October, while others remain open year-round. "We spent 10 days here and enjoyed it. It was crowded on the weekends, but during the week it emptied out," reports one camper.

Noise factors: Several campgrounds experience noise from nearby transportation routes. At Bluegrass Campground, the proximity to roads can impact the camping experience. One visitor observed that "The campground is filled with mostly seasonal campers and the campsites are very close together," which contributes to ambient noise levels during peak periods.

Reservation requirements: Most popular sites require advance booking. "MUST RESERVE ONLINE BEFORE 4PM. There is no walk-up service, and online site goes down after employees go home at night," warns a visitor to White Oak Campground. Holiday weekends often fill months in advance.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: When selecting a site with children, choose locations near play areas. At Van Buren State Park Campground, "the outside of the circle is your best bet and there's a few scattered in the middle. If you can get a good middle spot it's nice if you have kids since there's a playground, swings, basketball, and tether court."

Swimming options: Several parks maintain swimming areas during summer months. At Van Buren State Park Campground, families appreciate the recreational options. The park also features "a nice playground for kids and plenty of trails to hike or go horseback riding. They also had a dog park and small wildflower garden."

Budget-friendly amenities: White Oak Campground provides complimentary firewood, saving families on camping expenses. "The sites are inexpensive and come with free firewood, the restroom is cleaned regularly and maintained well, and it is relatively peaceful overall," shares a visitor, noting the value for family outings.

Tips from RVers

Site sizes and layouts: RV parks vary significantly in site dimensions. One visitor to Ohio Turnpike RV Lot noted, "There are about 20 spots all for 40 feet total RV leaks. Requires an approval from staff at the travel center." Sites at most Grand Rapids, Ohio rv campgrounds accommodate standard-size rigs, but larger motorhomes may face limitations.

Hookup availability: Electric service ranges from 30-amp to 50-amp depending on location. At Bluegrass Campground, "The man who checked us in was extremely helpful and friendly. He led us to our campsite, helped my husband back in, and encouraged us to call for any problems." Water connections may require longer hoses at some parks.

Level sites: Many RVers note the importance of site leveling. At Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground, visitors appreciate that "Sites are large for the weekend campers. The seasonal ones all have back in and the weekends are pull through which is kinda nice." Concrete pads at select parks make stabilization easier for larger rigs.
