RV campgrounds near Toledo offer reliable options for motorhome travelers, from overnight turnpike stops to seasonal lakeside resorts. Harbortown RV Resort in Monroe, Michigan offers concrete pads with full hookups including 50-amp service, operating from April through October. Sites accommodate large rigs with level pull-through spaces. "Very clean, nice sites with a friendly staff. We have a 21' camper and the sites feel small," noted one visitor, though the proximity to the expressway and train crossings creates periodic noise. The Blue Heron Ohio Turnpike RV Lot in Genoa provides convenient overnight parking with electric hookups, dump station access, and pull-through sites designed for big rigs traveling along the turnpike. Cedarlane RV Resort in Port Clinton maintains 300 sites with both 30 and 50-amp service, operating seasonally from May through mid-October.

Most RV parks in the region require reservations, particularly during summer weekends and fall when Lake Erie attracts visitors. Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA receives positive reviews for overnight stays, with pull-through sites that accommodate 32-foot and larger motorhomes. Water and sewer hookups are standard at most established parks, though availability varies seasonally. Some facilities close completely during winter months, while others maintain limited services. Electric hookups range from basic 30-amp to full 50-amp service suitable for larger motorhomes with multiple air conditioning units. Dump stations are available at most locations, though overnight parking areas like the Blue Heron Turnpike lot charge additional fees ($20) for electricity, payable by cash only at an on-site machine.

      Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA

      Small basic campground near Toledo

Our site was $59.95 a night.

We were in Site# 504. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. We were charged $25 additional for my jeep since we were towing the trailer. We also were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM. The park was close to empty so arriving early was not an inconvenience. We drove ourselves to our spot (no escort).

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

There is free WiFi, although not strong. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily before noon.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool but it is currently closed due to maintenance (although it just looked closed- no signs of maintenance being done).

There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes, corn hole, giant jinga.

They have a basic general store. There are not scheduled activities for kids.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes. This is an RV park with tent camping and cabins to rent.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. There are approximately 4 washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry a load.

They have a small fenced in dog park.

There isn’t tons to doin the actual city of Perryville. But Toledo is a 20 minute drive.

      Wayne County Fairgrounds RV Park

      Typical Fairgrounds Campground

This is a typical fairground campground with open grassy areas for campsites surrounded by barns and tracks. The fairgrounds is located just off I-94 which makes for easy entrance and exit to the campground, but, means there is lots of road noise. Close by are plenty of stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc. In fact, there is a gap in the fence that runs around the fairgrounds allowing you to walk to a Walmart, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, and more.

We arrived without a reservation and the women in the office was very helpful providing a map with all available sites during our stay and letting us choose which one we wanted. One of the first things you notice is that a number of people are here long-term so we went to the back area hoping it would be quieter and less crowded. A number of the campsites are “buddy” sites meaning your patio opens to your neighbors so be careful which one you pick. This is pretty undesirable when the neighbor is a total stranger so we chose a site where we didn’t have anyone next to us.

They offer 50 amp full hook-up sites, 50 amp/water, and 30 amp/water sites with pull-thru and back-in options. There is a dump station located in the middle of the park which is easy to get to. The roads are wide and a lack of trees makes this campground accessible for any size RV. The sites are level but some lack grassy making the patio pretty dusty or muddy. Unfortunately, where we were was pretty muddy just after a light rain. This campground works best for RV’s and not tents. For tenters there is a designated section that is set in a corner of the park with large trees for shade but not much privacy between you and others. A water spigot is in the tent area and there was one picnic table. The camp office sells firewood but we only saw two fire pits in the whole park. Be aware that noise from the interstate and nearby train tracks may make for a restless night. Bathrooms are centrally located in the campground and were old and tired but relatively clean. On-site laundry is available.

Apparently, management is having some issues with campers not obeying some of the rules. One of the sad things about this campground is that campers have to be reminded to clean up after their dogs. Apparently, it is such an issue that we got a letter stating that if you don’t pick up your dogs poop you would be asked to leave. How sad is that? There is free WiFi which worked pretty well. Upon checking in, we had to sign a piece of paper stating that we would not download copyrighted material or stream movies or we would be asked to leave.

My favorite aspect of this campground is that they had a community garden that you were welcome to pick from. We got tomatoes, Swiss chard, peppers, broccoli, and more. Overall, this campground was fine for the few nights we were here and close to the attractions we wanted to visit. We never felt unsafe even though it was close to major cities. We chose this campground because we wanted to go to Ann Arbor and Dearborn and it was a very convenient location.

      Pros:

      ·        Good location if you want to visit Ann Arbor and Dearborn

      ·        Close to interstate for easy access

      ·        Long, level sites that will fit any RV

      ·        Community garden you can pick from vegetables

      ·        Stores and restaurants are nearby (some within walking distance)

      Cons:

      ·        Lots of road noise from I-94

      ·        No trees for shade or privacy

      ·        Would not recommend for tent camping

      ·        Many campers are long-term

      ·        “Buddy” campsites with patios facing each other

      Travel Trailers

This park will accommodate any size travel trailer? Fifth wheel camper of any kind, the pull throughs are huge. The park is enormous with lots of fishing activities. Great water, the only downfall is there's no shade. Showers and restrooms are updated and always clean.

      Gotta Getaway RV Park

      Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

      Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

      Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

If you do t feel like cooking it’s about a 10 min drive. Campground has very good WiFi. We have Verizon had very good reception inland and I. The islands. Bass island is a fun day trip. Sites were level left to right. Had a slight pitch front to back.

Toledo experiences humid continental climate with summer temperatures averaging 70-85°F and winter lows reaching 20°F. Spring and fall camping provides milder temperatures with occasional rainfall, making weather planning essential for all types of campers.

    What to do

Hiking trails: Oak Openings Park offers multiple hiking options with diverse terrain. "Recently stayed at White Oak Campground on the way to Colorado... Very clean facilities (bathroom, wash station, pavilion), extra fire wood available to purchase," notes Chadwick.

Go-karts and mini golf: Harbortown RV Resort offers entertainment options directly adjacent to camping. "Next door to putt putt go karts batting cages ans arcade - this was pricey but fun," reports Kourtney D. after a Mother's Day weekend visit.

Water activities: Lake Erie access is available from multiple campgrounds, providing fishing and swimming opportunities. "Beach & fishing pier with in walking distance. All sites are angled & very easy to back into," explains Mathew H. about Camp Perry.

    What campers like

Free firewood: White Oak Campground provides complimentary firewood for campers. "The sites are inexpensive and come with free firewood, the restroom is cleaned regularly and maintained well, and it is relatively peaceful overall," says Aaron in his review.

Pull-through sites: Many campgrounds offer convenient pull-through options for easy parking. "Although we only stayed one night, we will be back. All concrete roads and pads. Basketball court, sand volleyball, playground, dog run, batting cages and go karts within walking distance," writes Bill B. about his experience.

Weather considerations: Spring camping can mean muddy conditions after rain. "Sites were nice for primitive camping. As a lifetime local I must applaud our metroparks for creating some beautiful primitive campsites," Sherrie W. explains about local camping options.

Road and air traffic: Some campgrounds experience noise from nearby transportation routes. "You can hear distant cars and some not so distant planes. Also, while all the sites are wooded the woods are not very thick so you can see and hear your neighbors pretty well," Megan T. mentions about White Oak Campground.

    Tips for camping with families

Hiking for children: Oak Openings provides accessible trails for younger campers. "Brought the kids and had a blast! We loved the hiking, bike trails, playground at Mallard lake area, and the kids liked exploring the sand dune area," shares Kevin K.

Off-season visits: Less crowded weekdays provide more space for families. "We stayed an evening here for a last day of school celebration. Bathrooms were clean (and prepared to follow social distancing guideline). The park provides cut firewood for campers," notes a visitor.

    Tips from RVers

Highway stop is open 24 hrs so you have food and bathrooms all night. Free overnight stay allowed and for extra $20 you can get electricity," explains Randall K.
