West Branch State Park Campground in Wayland offers year-round cabin accommodations with clean facilities and lakeside views. Roundup Lake RV Resort features Park Model Cabins with full bathrooms and kitchens, though some guests note mattress quality issues. According to one visitor: "We rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

    Cabins could be better

The bunk beds have very thin rv style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam. Needs to invest in better mattresses.

    KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake

    Cabin

Last August rented Cabin. It was beautiful and very clean. The owners were great and very helpful. !! Cabins are a little high in price. No WiFi,. KOA should lower the prices due to that. Activities are great keeps the kids interested. KOA should have on all camping sites Life Guard if there is water sports involved.Game room was nice and clean.Change machine needs to stay stocked.Fishing lake was great. I think with full swing in Season they should offer more activities for adults too.Camp Store should be more orangized. Bathhouse was very clean!.Trash was picked up every day and the Park very clean.! We have booked another Cabin for May 2021. They have a limited rental on Life jacket s. Bring ur own.!

Great base camp for visiting Cedar Point

The owners are very frank about what they have here. This isn't a place to get away from it all. It's behind a car dealership and next to a fairly busy railroad. But they do offer amenities to make your stay easier.
We normally stay at State Parks, so didn't understand all the options they had, and ended up with a deluxe dual site which had more than we needed, but was a pleasant surprise.
Our site was not in the tree shaded area, but instead included a Shelter with table, a patio with furniture and a fire pit, a grill and a free-stranding sink and electricity. the sites are close together, but our neighbors were friendly and comradery was the norm.
The showers are a bit cramped, but plenty of hot water.  There are TWO heated pools, which we didn't have time to use.  Plus there's  a big bouncy hill for the kids, something I've never seen before. A good General store and friendly staff.
We spent all our time at Cedar Point, but here are things for the kids to do here, including a crafts barn.

    Findley State Park Campground

    Organized Group Site 2

It was difficult to find pictures or reviews of the Findlay group sites. It honestly seemed to me that they didn't exist, so I thought I'd do the service of taking some pictures.

The group sites are away from the main campsites, so you should have plenty of space for your group to set up and enough distance between them to not disturb the peace if you have a large group. OGA2 is heavily forested, I'm not sure about OGA1. There are plenty of trees so both hammock and tent campers should be accommodated. The fire pit is large and there are 4 picnic tables.

The campsite is about 75 yards from the parking area, and there is a vault toilet right before the parking area.

Guide to Cleveland

Cabins near Cleveland, Ohio range from rustic structures to fully equipped rental units throughout the region's diverse landscapes. Located within a 60-mile radius of downtown Cleveland, these accommodations typically sit at elevations between 600-1,200 feet above sea level in the gently rolling terrain of northeast Ohio. Most cabin areas experience four distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 70-85°F and winter temperatures frequently dropping below freezing.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At American Wilderness Campground, cabin renters can access on-site fishing with minimal travel. "We loved the fishing available here we also had the kids they enjoyed the arcade and gem mining we also liked the access to self serve laundry and camp store as well," notes Jessica J.

Hiking trail access: Cabin guests at Big Creek Park can explore small, well-marked trails directly from their accommodations. "Most of the trails are small, well-marked, accessible, and easily walkable for families," explains Brannon M., who adds that the park has "a few ponds on the property, complete with fishing docs, that are stocked with bluegill and small man fish."

Swimming and water activities: Lakefront cabins provide direct access to swimming areas during summer months. Woodside Lake Park features water recreation options for cabin guests. "The swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," states James S.

What campers like

Clean, modern bathroom facilities: Many cabin campers cite bathroom cleanliness as a key factor in their satisfaction. At Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA, guests appreciate the maintained facilities. "KOA Bath house trailer was very clean, easy to utilize the outdoor kitchen," notes Heidi C., who selected this location for its proximity to various waterfalls.

Proximity to attractions: Cabins situated near Cleveland offer convenient access to regional attractions. "We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love," shares Jennifer H.

Peaceful settings: Many cabin campers value quiet surroundings. Countryside Campground cabins provide a tranquil atmosphere despite being relatively close to Cleveland. "Even with the sites close together it was quiet and peaceful," reports Kathryn P., who appreciated the "nice path through the woods down to the reservoir, where you can fish and kayak."

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most cabin rentals have limited availability during winter months. West Branch State Park Campground remains open year-round but with reduced services in colder months. "The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days," notes Alisa G.

Bed quality varies significantly: Several reviews mention uncomfortable mattresses in cabin accommodations. When booking, ask specifically about bed types and consider bringing additional padding. One camper at Roundup Lake RV Resort notes, "The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better."

Firewood availability: Most cabin locations sell firewood on-site, though quality and price vary. During peak season, supplies may run low. "Only gave a 4 b/c they were out of wood and what wood they had was wet. We needed up buying charcoal to cook our burgers on," reports Mike A. from Roundup Lake.

Tips for camping with families

Book activity-rich locations: Families consistently rate cabins with multiple on-site activities highest. "The kids had fun. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it," recommends Jennifer H.

Consider wildlife encounters: Countryside Campground offers family-friendly cabin options with nature experiences. "Went to this nice little spot with 4 kids, the hound and my wife. The 9 tent sites are very large and spacious," shares Tommy K., adding, "The Buckeye ebail connects to the footpath down to the reservoir."

Check playground proximity: Cabins near playground facilities provide added entertainment value for children. "Kids trick or treated and all campers were very friendly. Due to cooler temps pool was closed. The small putt putt course was still open for kids to play. Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids," notes Joe F.

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: When booking cabins in predominantly RV parks, location impacts experience. Findley State Park Campground offers cabins in various locations throughout the park. "There needs to be a lot of cleanup, the woods inbetween sites and overrun with dead and falling trees," cautions Keith L., suggesting careful site selection.

Water quality considerations: Some cabin locations have issues with water quality. One extended-stay guest noted, "I left after 2 months due to iron & sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to filter and clean up the water to no avail."

Check site leveling: Many cabin sites in the Cleveland region have uneven terrain. "On first impression we were not impressed with this park. First the water fill is on an incline so when our tank was 'full' pulling away from fill station it was really only 2/3 full," shares Andrea F., pointing out infrastructure challenges at some locations.
