Nice older campground

Eagle point is more rustic than the campground by the marina. Gravel pads, many on sloping ground. No way to know which sites might work for you until you look when you arrive. Someone did answer the phone, though, and let us move to another site.We had electric-only, by choice, for 2 nights. Water nearby. Not very many transient campers, but lots of "seasonal" to permanent-looking larger trailers. Quiet in our loop because only a few sites were occupied. Very nice bathroom and shower building. The dump station here is set up for emptying totes- not much room to park a trailer/RV for dumping at it. We drove to the dump station by the marina to have more room to work. Rinse water hose at the sewer opening had no water hose fitting on it (just a skinny brass angled spout), so no way to rinse our blackwater tank. Potable water was 40 feet away, but all water came out of a backflow preventer, so no way to use a hose. Disappointed with the dump station. Overall, it was fine for 2 nights. If you have a boat, there are lots of covers to explore on the lake. The water is very silty, and rather shallow in most places.

Beautiful lakefront sites!

We booked a weekend trip here on a whim to visit some nearby attractions. After looking at the campground map, we chose a lakefront site in the Eagles Point area and were not disappointed! Beautiful views! Can bring your boat or kayak and drop in right from your site. Showers and bathrooms were clean. Staff were friendly and a ranger patrolled multiple times a day/night. We will definitely go back!

Eaglepiont

We stayed on the Eaglepiont side. It’s opposite the main campground up the mile about .5 mile. The sites are not as modern but have more trees and natural beauty. The main campground is most cement pads and no shade. The Messerly Recreation building had some fun things for kids on Saturday and bingo on Saturday night.

Overall nice place and not far off the Highway!

The other campers were kind and helpful and the bathrooms were clean, but we’ll never be back

The campsites were small, very uneven and dirty. We saw seasonal campers with four and five cinder blocks holding up one corner or another. The sites were so small that a “lakefront” site was more accurately called a “lake” site.

The check in staff person was incredibly rude and offered no map, no directions, no help whatsoever. The gate person was somewhat better but with five distinct campgrounds and over 600 sites, no map is unacceptable.

Don’t buy firewood at the marina—you are better off driving around Mohican and stopping along the road where local landowners are offering better quality for less.

It was somewhat quiet for the number of people and campers packed into such a small area, but if not for COVID, it would have been a very loud with parties. As it was, trucks zoomed in and out of the park all night. No one enforced the closing or quiet hours.

In short, it was all of the shortcomings of a crappy private campground, but your tax dollars and local government fees help to support it.

Never again—we’ll stay at Mohican State Park next time.

mixed feelings 😕

Upon arrival friendly staff greeted us. Bath houses are clean and well maintained.  Our site was not clean and ready.  Picnic table looked like it was not cleaned since last season and the fire pit was full of rubbish.  Had campers behind us who played music so loud we couldn't hear each other talk.  I asked the gentleman to please turn it down and they did slightly. Another camper also asked them to turn it down and again it was very slight.  Well after midnight music continued.  No park ranger made rounds until Saturday morning and throughout the day.

The lake is gorgeous this weekend and we enjoyed riding bikes and walking the park.

May be back to try again.

Not too far from I-71

Open and almost full on 5/30/20. We stopped for one night on our way from VT to CO. Tho they messed up and double booked our site (a really nice one on quieter waterfront side) we were able to get another waterfront one by marina. I would say this is a popular seasonal site for many. Many pontoon boats and kayaks on the lake. Restrooms were fine with free shower. Had electric at our site, not water. Shared water very close.

Love it here

I love this place! Just had my second visit and can’t wait to go back. Water view on both sides and sites are nice sized and not right on top of each other.

Beautiful views right on the lake

Beautiful lake with lakeside sites. Wooden and peaceful. Bathrooms could be better. They were working on part of the grounds and the improvements are very promising..

Crowded

The sites are mostly level but are short & close to each other. Roads are narrow & hilly. Electric went out several times over the weekend. There is a lake with a marina. There is an outdoor pool & shower building. Mostly seasonal campers but some drive in sites.

Wonderful sites

There is a beach side and a lake side both are nice. We have stayed on both. There is a lake with a boat launch near by a playground and beach for families to swim. Kid friendly activities available while we were there.

Waterfront camping

Charles Mills Lake is a Great place for waterfront camping and if you like boating. The grounds are well maintained and the primitive sites are pretty well secluded. The only downside is that the hiking trails are not close by.
