    Roam Beyond - Kalaloch

    Truly Magical Camping...

    The Tree of Life, miles of sandy walks hunting for sand dollars, impeccable views and roaring sea...Kalaloch is one of the most amazing of the Washington Coastal beaches and campgrounds. I have stayed here many times, I have visited for day-use many times. It's just as downright amazing every stay or visit. Bathrooms are fine when people aren't leaving behind a mess (that goes for campsites too), but there are no showers available. The hosts have always been friendly and helpful. All sites have their own unique qualities, but I personally now AVOID the 4 sites in the loop directly above the Tree of Life because Google Maps directions bring tourists to the campground and we learned all too well, the traffic is constant and people have no problem coming directly into the campsites looking for the Tree even when occupied. FYI, the Tree Of Life is only accessible by the Beach- Park in the main parking lot and you have to walk down the trails to the beach to access, NOT in the campground. Kalaloch is truly magical and a Peninsula gem. Visit the Kalaloch Lodge as well for coffee, food, firewood, snacks, drinks camping wares or souvenirs.

    Twin Harbors State Park Campground

    Great Campground but not-so-great-neighbors...

    Clean, well-maintained, nice campground. Some sites are a bit close together. I would really like to visit again and rent a Yurt! Great little short hike to the beach with shells and agates galore. LOTS of mosquitoes that were not deterred by sprays or citronella at all. We intended to stay for 3 days but couldn't get any sleep due to very loud, inconsiderate camping neighbors and left after 2 days. We love a good camping party, get-together with the best of them but being obnoxiously loud and wasted while screaming at your kids for crying at all hours because they too can't sleep due to your drunken obnoxiousiousness, is just not cool.

    At the Lac Dispersed

    Decent spot

    It’s a bit back from the road which is nice. Seems to be 2 camp spots separated by logs. We didn’t see access to water, but we didn’t stay to explore. Great views of the lake.

    Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort Campground — Olympic National Park

    Hot Springs and Hiking Magic...

    My favorite place to hike and camp. There are so many great hikes, subalpine lakes to see, the Sol Duc River and Falls are so beautiful. There are waterfalls galore throughout the ONP that are just as majestic and beautiful as Sol Duc if you like hiking up. The hotsprings make a great relaxing treat at the end of a hike or weekend of camping. There is no such thing as a bad campsite here and the Host is so helpful. The ONLY con is availability, its always booked. As a local, we are lucky to scoop up a random day or two of a reservation space if we aim for early in the season. The most frustrating thing that seems to happen is no fault of the beautiful park, it's people that make reservations and don't bother to cancel them so someone else can utilize the space and then never show up so many campsites sit empty when they should be available for people that WANT to be there. Go visit if you can, it's definitely worth it.

    Salt Creek Recreation Area

    Beautiful Tidepooling...

    We are locals, so it costs less than non-resident campers, but if you are looking for a camping trip where you can hike, tidepool, relax and enjoy amazing views....go to Salt Creek. It's a one of a kind, beautiful park. Cons: No Alcohol Allowed in the park and be aware of raccoons. It doesn't matter how well you hide your food or storage containers, they will try and get in.

    Secluded Peaceful Dispersed Camping Spot

    About 0.15 miles off the main dirt road (right off the big curve). Follow it back that 0.15 miles and it dead ends into a fairly large open and flat area surrounded by big towering pine/evergreen trees. Far enough off the main dirt road to never hear anybody drive by. Completely alone and secluded. Fairly deep ruts and steep in 1 section on the 0.15 miles spur to the spot. AWD and moderate clearence and you should be fine. I did it with FWD in a Ford Maverick and made it, though it was a bit tough with how dusty and loose it was. Need minimum that level of clearance. I cleaned up some dead branches to give some more clearance on the side of the road through that section to straddle by.
