Loud and trashy

We chose a spot in the rv tent area which was not very clean and very loud. Stay in the outer ring if you have an RV.

Incredible views, but beware of heavy wind.

I love this state park, the landscape of glacial-carved coulees and sagebrush covered shrubsteppe is gorgeous and unique. The park is truly a geological wonder. As campgrounds go, this one is very windy! Keep that in mind if you are tent camping, as you could easily lose your tent!

If camping here I cannot suggest campsite 88 in campground D unless you are in an RV. It's just a very basic, gravel site with little shade, right by the road entering the campground, and not private at all. It is right across from a nice beach though so could be a good spot for an RV. Campsite 118 looked much better and I plan on choosing that site instead next time.

I do not suggest the Sun Lakes Resort campsite that is not managed by Washington State Parks unless you like being packed in like sardines. Camping at the state park managed campsite is far better.

Amazing area, lots to do

The score is more for the abundance of things to do in the area than for the campground itself.

I was there for a trail run race that went deep in the Sun Lakes back country and the floor of the Dry Falls area. Just stunning scenery. While I didn't get to partake on my trip, the lakes offer fishing, boating, and swimming.

The camping itself is the standard state park experience, sites close together, not much for privacy. But they are nice spots, and well maintained.

Something for everyone

A beautiful oasis in the middle of a dry area of the state. Located near / within Dry Falls and Sun Lakes State Park this camping resort has it all. A beautiful golf course, a great mini golf course, pool, water wars, grocery, awesome super cute gift shop, office, delicious snack/dinner/restaurant/ice cream/espresso treat stand, peddle boats, row boats, beach, lake swimming, tons of fishing options, walking trails, camp fires, lots and lots of big grassy areas to set up pickle ball, badminton, volleyball, soccer etc. seriously. Awesome. We spent time on and on the water everyday. Gorgeous location and super friendly staff. Kids rode scooters and bikes around. So many families. It was perfect.

Great time to visit the wonderful spot!

We spent 3 nights here early in the season. Wasn’t too full and it was lovely and green! We were in the farthest loop, which appeared newer than the rest. Certainly the sites were larger. Looks like they really pack them in, in other areas. Bathrooms and showers were available and clean. Lots of hiking and walking opportunities. I think we’d have preferred sites on the perimeter of the loop as they looked more private. The ‘hub” of the loop shared a common “yard” so not so much privacy . We and friends were in sites 3 and 6. I loved the look of sites 4 & 5 for 2 parties traveling together. Loved the wild turkeys! And the geologic history was awesome.

Great early season April 2021

We hit this site very early season for a Northern Washington trip. All facilities were open and clean and the site was super quiet and beautiful.

Great trip, only one issue

We had a great trip to this state park and the lakes to the South where we got some good fishing for trout and caught almost 20 16 plus inch long rainbow trout. We had no problems with the electricity or the water or the sewer hookup at our site. The only issue I had is that on the weekends at night the late summer partying was really loud and the park rangers seemed to be doing nothing about it. If you need peace and quiet at a state park during the weekend you're probably not going to find it here. Other than that, we can't wait to go back and catch some more great trout!

Busy on a weekend, but everything you need.

Stop through on our way from Glacier to North Cascades. This camp ground is really busy but all sites have full hookups. We have a 23' hybrid trailer and had plenty of room. Small pool for the kids open 11-8, beach. Mini golf for $5. 9 hole public course within walking distance. ($19 for 9, club rental for $8) Laundry ($3/$2) Alot to offer for $53. Great little restaurant with with sandwiches and huge ice cream cones. 30 min drive to Grand Coulee dam they have a laser light show.

Windy lakes, cool geology

This is a neat place to explore! The drive in is beautiful, and there are lots of lakes to visit. Deep lake (5 min from camp) is great for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. The main downside of the trip was the relentless wind almost all weekend, to the point where we didn’t even want to attempt to build a fire. Note that a “waterfront” campsite doesn’t actually have a view of the water… only the cabins were truly waterfront. The camp has lots of amenities: food shack (burgers, fried food, ice cream), grocery, a gift shop with fudge, mini golf, kayak/board/paddleboat rentals, etc. The RV sites have nice shade trees, and water/electric/sewer hookups.

Love this place!

We have stayed here a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay every time. It books up quick on weekends, reservations recommended. Great lakes for fishing close by. Make sure to secure down any camping gear/tents/etc as the wind tends to howl through this area at night.

Favorite camping in the area

This campground is the best! Boat rentals, good fishing and fun things to do. Not super expensive compared to others. It does get windy so make sure you have a good tent in wind

Lots of fun!

I seriously love this campground. Went there one week ago for the weekend, Friday night was really windy during the night. They have a store, kayak/paddle board rentals, bathrooms and showers (bring 50cents coins!). The lake is so refreshing! It’s super hot there and I could spend all day swimming in the lake. And the best part is the view. Is so beautiful! I’d definitely come back.

Amazing!

We tent camped at the campground here a few times. The swimming area is a short walk away. There’s also a second swimming area and a playground within the park that is a quick drive. There is an on-site store and snack shack. We love this place. The kids have a blast. There are clean bathrooms with showers.

Downfalls:: It can get pretty windy and the raccoons and mosquitoes can be pretty pesky. Also one year we went at the end of August during wild fire season so it was a little smokey.

There is a difference between the state park and the resort

I have stayed at both. Both are excellent! The resort is clean, comfortable, shaded green grass, and the mechanical hook ups for RV’s are in good working order. Plenty of amenities to make your extended stay enjoyable.

The state park pads are decent. Fire ring and picnic table are provided at no extra cost. Most of the pads are very level. Grass is green, bathrooms clean, and the kids run wild. Close enough to the water to have easy access. There are RV spots in the back that are new. I haven’t stayed there yet, but I’ve driven through. It’s far enough from the main campground to be a lot more relaxed, and more suited for people that do not enjoy the kids running rampant.

Two things that neither place have any control over: wind and mosquitoes. The wind will blow hard at night. It doesn’t matter if it was dead calm when you went to sleep at 2am. Pick up and secure anything that will blow away or be damaged by high wind.

When check out time comes around, the day use area has lots of parking to finish the day in the water.

Nice camp ground

We camped with friends who brought their boat along. The water is beautiful and there is a nice swimming area. There is a nice snack shack near the boat dock. Great shakes! There is a lot of nice shade near most of the campsites and they keep the grass green and well watered. The bathrooms and showers are accessible but do require tokens from the ranger station.

awesome kokanee fishing at deep lake!

the campground was nice and tidy, but you're basically sleeping on hard ground littered with a bunch of rocks and little prickly balls (that fell off trees). those little prickly things pierced through my flip flops which was not fun. the wind was brutal and nearly blew away half of our party's tents. the ground is super dry which made getting tent stakes in very challenging. we used our vehicles to try to shield our site from the wind. you are better off renting a cabin or bring your RV! despite all that i actually liked our camping experience since there was so much to see and do. you could go try and golf but the gusts were super strong so i think it would be pointless. banks lake is super close by with a bunch of primitive fee-free boat launches. just don't forget your discovery pass! the fishing at deep lake was phenomenal! fresh caught kokanee pan fried in butter! yum! dry falls are a quick drive up the road and you could even go see grand coulee damn if you wanted to. would i tent camp here again? probably not. would i come back and rent a cabin or van camp? most definitely! would i bring the dogs? not unless they raked up all those prickly things off of the ground. i think it would be complete torture for them.
