Howard Miller Steelhead County Park

Quite expensive for a county park ($40/night) but the hosts are sweethearts, the bathrooms/showers were clean, and the park itself is well-maintained and cared for. Also, good cell service.

Was in a pinch for a new camp spot, as the dispersed camp site area I planned on staying at had just gotten robbed.

Camp hosts were exceptionally sweet and older but awesome! $24 a night for tent camping. Tent sites line the river bank! Awesome grassy, shaded area with a picnic table, fire pit, and a “camp grill” !!!

Very clean , quite and easy to park

The host was incredibly generous. We had no where to stay, places are closed due to winter season and he let us park in a spot for only a $20 bill. Amazing guy, clean and spacious campground. Definitely recommend.

Such a beautiful spot, you can tell that the caretakers really have a sense of purpose taking care of this campground and giving it a unique sense of character that you don’t find many other places. I loved some of the details they included like planting flowers and maintaining landscaping and posting interesting and eye catching signs. Playground was a definite find and made me wish I was traveling with my kids at the time. Well done.

This is the cleanest, prettiest, best maintained campground I’ve stayed at in my 9 months of travel! Clean, beautiful park-like setting with Skagit River next to it. Great little playground for kids, birdhouses, flowers, hot showers, wifi - what more could you need. RVs and tent campers, and cabins. I highly recommend it

This campground is right alongside a sweet and fenced neighborhood playground, on the banks of the river. Pretty, tranquil spots and camp hosts on site. There isn’t much here, but a diner nearby has great reviews and it’s a good spot to jump off into the North Cascades National Park.

In character, this is more of an RV park than a campground. While there are some people staying just with tents, most have RVs or fifth wheels. Privacy between sites is limited, as well mostly find in such settings. But, still, I can recommend this place even to tenters. The park is wonderfully kept, there are group shelters where you can eat comfortably even in the rain and the cabins offered or nice – A couple of regular ones and a couple of open bunk cabins. All of them in good repair. The setting is beautiful in a verdant and interesting valley, right by the river. There is a small local bar/diner just a few steps away and a boat ramp on the same property.

Stopped in for one night, made use of the much-needed shower! $1 in quarters for four minutes of shower, and after five days of kayaking on Ross Lake I would have paid triple that. The camp is well managed, mostly an RV site. Two bald eagles were eating dinner on the shore of the Skagit River across from us. Had a nightcap at the Rockport bar right across the street, and had Pizza at Annie’s (West on Rte. 20, about 8 miles) it was all wonderful.

Saturday. Every campground near North Cascades is full. Including this one. But the host is phenomenal and when we explain that we’re fully contained and only need a place to park, he accommodates us for the overnight parking fee ($12.) $16. if you want bathroom access incl. showers - $1./4 min) and WiFi. This guy is great.

This campground has the vibe of a fun neighborhood block party. At 10 p.m., the noise tapered off. Sunday morning, there was live music and a church service by a group staying there.

Daylight revealed all the charms of this beauty tucked along the river. The sites along the water are particularly special.

Spacious sites with beautiful Mountain View’s. RV sites equipped with water & electric hookup. Nice clean gravel sites with fire ring & picnic tables.

Very well maintained county campground. One of the best in the NW

There’s a nice trail along the river and a small nature center, but most people were enjoying the river for fishing or use the trails for birding. The campground is very open, all grass with just a few trees. So you are very close to other people. We didn’t much care for it for camping, but it’s a great little park for day use. You’re very close to loads of national forest land, so this could be a good site to camp if you only need a place to crash before a big trip.

These camp sites are located so close to the river that it drowns out any nosy neighbors and it also makes for a nice convenient place to go fishing and camping. The sites are ones that you have to walk into and it seems like there was plenty of space for us to put our tents and have plenty of shade trees. I will definitely be back here simply for the close proximity that the tents are to the fishing

The tent sites are all walk in on a big lawn by the river. Sites are nicely spaced between one another. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. There are some nice trees spaced in the lawn so you get shade.

It's one of my favorite spots because of the fishing access. The tent sites are right on the waterfront behind a row of foliage. The Skagit is a fishable river and spectacular when the salmon pinks run every other year. You can hear them jumping and splashing from your camp site. It's amazing.

And on your way home you have to stop by the 4B's Cafe in Concrete. Is a from scratch bakery and amazing!!!

Howard Miller Steelhead is luxury camping. Lots of spots for RV's, but not a lot of trees. Paved roads everywhere. There are only a few tent sites, but they are right along a beautiful river. Again, no trees between sites though. When looking for a site in the dark, I definitely stumbled across a few other people's spots. I'm more of a rustic person, so this campsite wasn't for me. But it's location is great - it's right along the North Cascades Highway. The backdrop of the mountains is beautiful. Sorry no pictures. I was on my way to a rustic backpacking trip before sunrise.
