Secluded dispersed camping

This dispersed camping area is free and is along FS road #049 into Greens Draw area. Area is shielded from hwy 191 noise. However it has a strong ATT cell signal (no Verizon or TMobile). No toilets, tables or metal fire rings. No dumpsters. No water. True boondocking.

Popular Dispersed area for locals

This dispersed camping area is free and is along the FS roads that are on backside of a ridge behind the forest and is shielded from hwy 191 noise. However it has a strong ATT cell signal (no Verizon or TMobile). Sites are along the FS roads and look east into the large valley meadow Bowden draw…

Small crapped out CG

Small primitive campground. Free, 9 sites, #10 is a group site. One vault toilet, no water or trash. No cell signal. Most sites are small back in, but a few are pull thru for larger trailers. Group area #10:seems popular with horse groups so lots of horse poop and flies. Oak Park lake is a draw…

Large open area lots of room

This dispersed camping area is called the " range study" site but there is no sign saying such. It is a very large open area along a dirt road FS #217 that runs down a flat open ridge toward the summit of this area. Sites are obvious and very large with lots of turn around space for large…

FR 217 near Vernal, UT

I was at Steinaker State Park near Vernal, UT and it was H O T! Needed cooler temps and found FR 217 with an elevation of 8400’ - ahhh…temps in 70’s. I have a beautiful site amongst aspens/pines. Large pull thru spot, no neighbors, and quiet. Shortly after I arrived, the road was graded. I’ve seen…

Beautiful forest camping

We found a spot next to a stream on forest road 838. Very few campers in the area, all quiet and respectful. Road was rough, no problem for our Subaru Forester. Lots of hiking available in the area.

Picturesque Lake Camping, Dino Prints!

Very popular campsite, and understandably so. Other reviewers got it right - this is a beautiful place to camp and we throughly enjoyed it.

Besides the wonderful scenery, our absolute favorite part of this campground is the ability to rent kayaks and kayak over to see the dinosaur footprints.…

Just off the highway, amazing dispersed camping!

This was one of my favorite finds during my trip through Utah earlier this summer. We were checking out Flaming Gorge and, predictably, all the campgrounds were booked full. I prefer cool dispersed camping anyway, so I decided to venture off some forest roads to see what I could see. And man, that…

The Old Guy Is An ass

I arrived here around 7:50pm . There were a lot of empty spaces to camp but the old & grumpy guy didn’t allowed me to camp here.

I wouldn’t recommend it. Go to “Fossil Valley Rv park & self . It’s like 6min away.

Last Minute

Owner is great . I arrived here around 8:45pm . He allowed me to tent camp here. I ride a motorcycle. I saw more Rv than tent site. I would definitely camp here next time .

Red rock awesomeness

We rented a TeePee site. It was fun for the kids to sleep in a TeePee. There was a small table with a roof over it. The was also a grill box that we set our gas stove on top of for cooking. The campground sits higher than the day use area. The bathroom had a flush toilet which is really nice. We…

Desert camping at it’s finest

This was my first time at this campground and it was great! It’s close to hiking, wild horses, the u-dig trilobite digging center, the sink hole. Great for a weekend getaway. We were there mid-May so the temperature was perfect, but it was windy. You can see all the stars on a clear night

Things…

Basic campground

Clean sites, very overpaved. Picnic tables, firepits, pit toilets. Firewood sold by host $7/bundle. $24/night single site. The campground is kind of on a cliff overlooking the water but there really isn’t any good view or way down to the water. Very pretty sunset.

Convenient

We hadn't done much research in this area and hadn't planned where to go so we decided to "glamp" at the KOA.  For a KOA this was pretty nice. Restrooms were clean. Lots of activities for children.  It was expensive for close together sites and only electric and water hookups.  We did have a nice…
