Rustic beauty

No power or shower but worth it. Tough hiking with spectacular scenery. Love it here!!

unreal star gazing, mountain views, friendly host & tons of birds!

We really enjoyed our stay at Smugglers' Roost! Our host couldn't have been nicer or more helpful to us. He gave us great advice on local places to explore & even showed us the stars through his telescope! The night sky there is incredible!

There are so many cool things to see & do in the…

Great spot

Beautiful views albeit mostly hiking along the dirt road… girlfriend and I went in my truck in May, 2021. I have been up to this site a couple times before in July and August months. Never have been disappointed… like any camping site, it’s ideal if you can get there Monday-Thursday but weekends…

Nice but a little dirty

If you are going to go to Cochise Stronghold I would recommend this house. It has an amazing historic past and is so close to hiking trails. But we did have a mouse in the house and no cell service, so that is why I gave it 4 stars

Primitive Camp in a Parking Lot

The campsite is a single fire ring in an unpaved parking lot about 100’ from the road which has moderate traffic. It’s free, and if you’re needing a spot to camp for the night, this might be for you. I visited in August so decided to opt for a motel room instead since the heat was well over 100.…

Checked out campsite

Went and checked out campsite. Was certainly hot. Little bit of walk to river but not bad. Was post monsoon weather. River was flowing fast and looked like chocolate. A lot of side roads for 4x4, quads etc. The Bonita creek drive is gorgeous and provides creek water you can get in. Was a beautiful…

Tucked Away

This dispersed campground is on the Pinery Scenic Route#42 on an all dirt road just before the incline up the mountain. It is a large campsite that can hold a group if necessary. There are no facilities or drinking water but there was a large fire ring available. You are tucked on the side of a…

Private and Clean

This site was very private and expansive for the location. There is the lower campsite however it is a bit down from the area where the tents were set up. There were multiple fire rings set up around the camp and the rangers who visited us informed that we may not use them and they were going to be…

A bit noisy

The camp sites are nice and large. Spaced out for plenty of room. Sound carries like crazy so kids screaming and dogs barking can be disappointing. The bathrooms are well kept as well. The lake is beautiful and a easy walk around for exercise. No campfires allowed.

Small, quiet, creek side camp

Nice, small campground with pit toilets, fire rings and bear boxes. Saw many deer and turkeys in the area. Plenty of shade available; unfortunately, only stagnant pools of water in the creek this time of year. $15 per night, there are dispersed sites available along the road as well. Easily…
